shun1624705838 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Hi There mems, After all my audition bought a NAD C320BEE and PSB B25. Since new to this hobby, me just hearing all i can and day by day the setup is getting good. Now connected to my OLD Sony CDP with Normal Bare speaker cables and normal RCA. Planning to upgrade one by one. Now starting with speaker cables and RCA. Which one should i change first RCA(Interconnect) or Speaker cables? The setup is now sounding bit forward. And i am finding the voice sounds little forward than music (am i using the correct words? sorry if wrong). So what type of cables i should buy? Please suggest me. After searching for topics on cable suggestion i found the following suits my little budget. Klotz GY107 (RCA) and belden(which model?) for speaker cables. Will a $100 budget enough (excluding the RCA or banana or spade connectors)? Thanks

Thanks yes, go for the highly recommended Klotz GY107 with Neutrik RCA plugs (must give time to solder) for $55 (if no change in price). for speaker wire can try Canare 4S11, Belden 8473(14AWG), or QED XT300. i am currently using these 3 and pleased with the sound :)

hifiluv Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Thanks hifiluv. Klotz and Belden i can find in SLS. QED in KEC. Canare 4S11? O Do you suggest any other shops? And any ideal about price for those speaker cables? Klotz, Belden, Canare all can get at LHS, SL Tower n u can chk px with them. Canare is on the warm side, Belden is mid warm, QED is very crisp and detailed but may be a slight bit bright for some combi. :)
shun1624705838 Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 Aiyooo lah Instead of typing LHS i mis-typed SLS. Sorry. Will check the cables. I like warmer sound. So will have to check the Belden and Canare first.
Dang1624705818 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Do update on the availability and price of Klotz GY107 with Neutrik RCA plugs & Canare 4S11 at LHS if you get the chance to check them out these few days. If time permits, hope to drop by SLT sometime next month to try these. Thanks. :)

hifiluv Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 hifiluv, hope the Neutrik available in LHS? Planning to visit them next week for both IC and Speaker cables. yes, both RCA plug option is fm LHS, the Canare is crimped on, while the Neutrik is solder. but the sound is very different. i used to be a sceptic but after trying out the Klotz, i am all for it. ;D

Any change in sound as well?
hifiluv Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Bro did you try for HT? Any change in sound as well? yes, i did. all along was using a Daiyo coaxial cable, last nite, use one of the Klotz with Canare plug as coaxial.... hey...if i m not imaging it... i think the sound clarity took a jump... testing it briefly with Eagle's DVD concert, will do more testing tis weekend if time permits. btw can any forumers share other than Klotz GY107 @ $2.50/metre, is there any other IC cables tat is good to recommend. Tks :)
bolts1624705732 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 The Belden 89259 I/C with Canare F10 RCA plugs. I think around $50 pair pair from LHS. Warmish sounding. Treble gets rolled off at the higher freq. Very stiff cables. If you want more details, solid imaging but at slightly brighter treble, you can try the nearly $200 DH Labs Air Matrix I/Cs. These are silver coated cables. Or try the lower-end BL-1s for less than $100. There are not many silver-coated cables that cost less than $100 a pair. They will work well in warm-sounding systems. These perform better than the 89259. I got both in my system. For speaker cables, you could also try the anti-cables. http://www.anticables.com/ I heard that these are almost the equivalent of Nordost Heimdalls, but cost at a fraction of their price. The Heimdalls' silver-coated cables are wrapped with Micro Mono-Filament so that the cables are using mostly air as a dielectirc (air is the second best compared to vaccum). The anti-cables achieves the same with a very thin coat of resin. This is what I heard. But, like all cable stories, lots of snake oil going around. Most likely, will order a pair for Christmas and try them out. If you do try these, post your comments. :)
shun1624705838 Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Thank u bolts. Will first start with the Klotz and Belden. Hope to go to LHS this week to buy those cables. Will update once done.
Quest88 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 bolts got the same liking for cables as me. ;D i too am looking to try the anticables. for cheaper silver coated cables, there's actually one more option in the chord carnival silver plus. personally find it not too bad.

Dang1624705818 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 just an update for the starter of this thread (Shun) and fellow forumers..... Got my Klotz GY107 with Neutrik RCA plugs & Canare 4S11 at LHS on Sat. $55 for Klotz GY107 with Neutrik RCA plugs and $6 per/m for Canare 4S11 (increase by $1 per/m since my last visit). As usual very friendly boss. Good service. One of the best place to get cables. :)
shun1624705838 Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 Thank you very much for the Update Dang. Sorry i stuckup on office work and was not able to visit them previous week and i doubt for this week also. This will be helpful for me. And did you terminate the Canare 4S11?
Dang1624705818 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Nope. Didn't terminate the 4S11. LHS only has banana plugs but I wanted to try spades. Was told that I need to buy my own and have them terminate for you if you want anything other than banana plugs.
shun1624705838 Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 I wanted to try spades. Any difference between Banana and spade? both in Sound and Price? Have to check whether my speaker supports spades?
Dang1624705818 Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Any difference between Banana and spade? both in Sound and Price? Have to check whether my speaker supports spades? Yet to try my hands on spades so I can't really comment. Usually I prefer to use just bare. It is just that sometimes, it is very difficult to use them bare on my AVR. Have to spend a lot of tiime just to hook them up/'squeeze' them into the AVR especially when you use bi-wire. Any bros can comment on cables terminated with spades ? Thanks.
kzone Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Any bros can comment on cables terminated with spades ? Thanks. I find it troublesome cos still need to screw the binding post to secure the spade & seldom can get a spade sz that's just nice for the speakers... If u wanna try spades, get those "soft" type where the screw can "eat" into the spades a little, otherwise it will loosen overtime. Sz of spade also important.. the big ones may not give u enough contact point since only one side of the spade may be in contact with the speaker post..
Zard Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Hi Shun Did you manage to get the klot GY IC and the Canare 4S11 speaker cable? I'm also using NAD 320BEE paring and Klot GY as recommended by many ppl. There is a great improvement when using with the Klot GY and Neutik plug. May I know where can I get Canare 4S11 speaker cable in SLT? Will like to compare the Canare with my current QED Speaker cable. Thanks. ;D
