likefunyouare Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Hello, I recently ordered the Wharfedale HCP 5.1 and upgraded the fronts to Diamond 9.1 together with the Marantz SR4001. Is bi-wire setup possible? From the manual, it seems like only SR5001 supports bi-wiring.
petetherock Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Bro Any amp can bi-wire, of course higher end models have two binding posts for tihs, but a simple way is just run two sets of cables to your speakers, connecting to the Low frequency and High Frequency terminals seperately, and removing the jumper link. The more fastidious may even use thinner wire or silver for the highe frequencies. However, (not trying to put a dampener on your audiophile aspirations) with the more budget amp / speaker models, there is minimal yield. Instead, spend more on your software - DVDs and enjoy! If you wish to, try it and ask a friend to do an A/B blind test and tell us. Also why not post the price of your purchase online at siriuslycold's website: http://streetprices.ckayfei.net/
likefunyouare Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 Thanks for the advise. I'm a newbie to hifi. Perhaps I will do some A/B testing once these speakers are sent to our new home.
HT102 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Sorry, OT a little... since Marantz SR4001 is here, is the SR8001 also available in Sg?
