richieleo Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 $2k plus!!! If the speaker max is 100W, will get a AV which can produce higher output spoil the speaker? HOw about the yamaha 4600v?
HT102 Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I would go for an AVR that accepts and supports HDMI 1080p switching since Blu-ray and HD-DVD players are going to provide such output resolutions. This is especially important if you own a 1080p capable (input wise) display. IMHO, the coolest AVR now is Sony's STR-DA5200ES. Hopefully, Sony will release it in Singapore. Tyer Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Not sure how Sony AVR is like. But where would we actually go listen to Sony AVR in Singapore?
SiriuslyCold Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 the Sony store level4 in Wisma Atria on Orchard
chainsdb Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 i have been doing my share of research into receivers. one thing that stands out is how highly denon is rated. another brand that has impressed critics is NAD. i have not listened to either, but the literature suggests denon is great for ht, and nad for music........like to hear what people here say
lyz77 Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 I'm using Mirage speaker. 1 uni-threater and 2 omnisat for surround!
DIRTRUN Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Hiya L, I have de good fortune of using the following AVR's, maybe not up to the Nad standards but ... 1. marantz 4200 - a little asthmatic for ht and to me lacks punch for music too 2. Pioneer 811s : now using together with a Rotel Rb985 - tons better than above even before acquiring de Rotel for both Ht and music 3. Yamaha 520 : first bedroom AVR - pretty good and powerful no complaints at all. 4. Panasonic SA XR30 : replaced no 3. above becos of itchy whatever in trying out de digital sound - also no complaints except for elcheapo springclips for speaker cables , sound is clear and powerful for both music and HT Btw I am running Tannoys M5, MXCtr and 4 Jbl sats and a svs pb12+ in de living room and Jbl MR ctr together with an old pair of Paradigm Peformance series mk11 with 2 jbl sats in the bedroom(no sub) Would like to suggest to also check out de Yamaha AVRs too...I dunno I prefer the Yammy sound than de Denons. Just my 2 cts thou' Dirtrun
