You luck Void.  Me to went to X-Audio previous week to audition them after seeing your topic.  I think i was the first customer who was told the rate $650 ???  But after saying that i am from xtremeplace the sales person told me to offer 10% discount.  And he added, that is the MAXIMUM he can give.  I quoted that you sold it for $480 and he told it was a HEAVY discount price for their 3rd anniversary offer :-[ and now it has already ended :'(.

But those little S520 were fine piece.  I loved them for their smooth and refined sound.  The BASS lacked a bit but fine if you are not going to listen that type of music or can be patched up with a SUB in HT environment?  Sure to say they filled the audition room.

Me now eying on PSB Image B25($800) which is a heavy a warrior to S520.  Both in price and performance.

Well the price i paid for is $440 for center speaker and $480 for a pair of front R/L ;)

Will post my some pics and review once i've setup everything up. Still looking for a pair of used speaker stand and haven't decided which sub to buy.

Hi,

The Usher S-520 is an excellent pair of speakers for the price. I bought a pair last year after I first auditioned it at X-Audio. In fact it outperformed the ProAc Reference 8s they have in the showroom as well.

Overall it has smooth, extended treble with good detail without being overly bright/harsh and very good midrange. This makes it very nice sounding with vocals and jazz music. Classical music is also nicely rendered.

Bass is pretty tight and not boomy, so sometimes there might be a perception of a lack of it. It's not awfully deep as it's a bookshelf but it's there nonetheless.

Another good thing is that these speakers doesn't sound "boxy" at all, and has nice wide/deep soundstage with excellent imaging.

$650 is probably the list price. If you really buy it, it should be much cheaper. $480 if I am not wrong, for the glossy finish. Even much lesser for the wooden finish.

Regards

CK
