pjs Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 New V series now available. From Sony.sg website: KLV-40V200A --S$4,299.00 32" and 46" also available.
nijeel Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 $25xx is quite a steal for 32" considering its predecssor used to be $33xx not too long ago. Anyway, contrast ratio is now up to 1700:1. But I noticed it says Sony panel. Does that mean its no longer using the SLCD panels?
cracker Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 S-LCD is a joint venture between Sony & Samsung.... So not wrong for Sony to call theirs "Sony" panel.

darthmax Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Looks like the new V200 model got better overall image quality (due to higher contrast ratio) than the old V series.... ::)
bloke Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 $1999 with free 5 years warranty at BD... roger that - thanks ;D
dude Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Actually, old V-series compared to the new, is there a very big difference? Would it be correct to say that the 'old' V-series is also perfectly watchable? I was at HN over the weekend, and they were offering an LG 42" LCD at just over 3k. Thought it's quite worth....anyone can help? Thanks.
varun1624705824 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Would it be correct to say that the 'old' V-series is also perfectly watchable? It would be MOST correct to say that the 'old' V-series is also perfectly watchable. It's been repeatedly praised by industry publications for good reason. I'm very satisfied with my V40. For those who care about these things, the new V series is supposedly assembled in Malaysia... Cheers, - V.
tsammyc Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I saw the 46" V series at Harvey Norman Millenia. It is spectacular running HD. Was told that can bring the official $5,999 price down to around $5,200.

HT102 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Anyone read the latest issue of "What HiFi" mag? The new Sony W2000 series (1080p) was rated to be even better than the 7th gen plasmas from Pioneer!

Xtra Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 looking to get either Samsung LA40R71B or Sony BRAVIA V-Serie KLV-40V200A any comment on the 2 lcd ? If time is at your side, you could consider Samsung 1080P LCD TV, launching in Singapore soon. Or the one with Extended Wide Colour Gamut. http://www.samsung.com/sg/products/tv/lcdtv/la40f71b.asp http://www.samsung.com/sg/products/tv/lcdtv/la40n71b.asp

Notice the new term "Blu Ray Ready" amongst the feature set of the F-series.. my guess, it means they'll accept 1080p input. Maybe that's also the reason why Panny is "lelong"-ing their current gen plasmas.
dude Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Would like to ask for opinions please. The previous Sony Bravia KL40V10 compared to the 42"plasmas that Panasonic is selling now - which would be a better choice? Price-wise, the Sony is still high, and the Panny does have that $800 petrol voucher promo which is like super attractive.. Thanks for your time.
