svale Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Hi all I am thinking of replacing my CRT TV with a LCD TV (37"), but not sure if I am able to mount the LCD TV on a false wall (made of MDF). As I cannot place my central speaker (currently sitting on top of my CRT TV) on the LCD TV, it has to be placed on the TV rack and hence I have no choice but to mount the LCD TV on the MDF wall behind. Can anyone advise, pl? Thanks!
Corona11 Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 NO WAY! It has to be mounted on hard concrete with heavy duty anchor bolts.
donaldduck Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 I actually mounted my 43" Plasma on MDF Board. I also mounted aircon + 3 encore speakers into another mdf board.
kzone Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 MDF or gypsium board? I guess MDF should be strong enough... but not the latter Btw, I have a false gypsium wall.. But I got the contractor to reinforce the portion that I'm hanging my speakers on. Even then, the contractor told me max wieght is only 30kg...
Corona11 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 You want to see what an MDF board looks like after a few years? Delamination and absorption of moisture in the air are the main killers of MDF boards.
