domho8 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Its too early, only 4 matches, but Pool has lost twice in a row. I got a feeling its going to be another struggle to qualify for Euro next season. :'( :'(
Chowbotak Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 For me, Pool always win - on my x-box! ;D
htfreak Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Aiyah.. with so many new players coming in, there's bound to be kinks in the system that needs to be sorted out. Have more faith and at least there's more wing play nowadays as compared to the old days. Almost gone is the defensive siege mentality that plagued previous years too. At the very least, their matches are more exciting to watch now, don't you agree. :)
scoobydoo Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Seems like that they used up a lot of their luck in the Champions League Final... sigh... Hoping for better things ahead...
lewlian Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Aside from their goal, Chelski didn't do much else but yes they got the 3 pts that mattered. We just have to pick it up sooner rather than later.
silencer13 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Don't know what the fuss is all about. You mean people were actually betting that Liverpool would win it against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge? It's early days yet. I find it funny how the local commentator kept saying the same thing - that Liverpool's title hopes were over. WTF, it's only 4 games played for heaven's sake! Let's not forget Chelsea and ManU have also lost 1 each already.... looks like a more interesting race this season.

Kuyt and Bellamy getting their act together, Crouch hungry for goal after coming on .. have faith man! if you dun believe in them, who else would .. neva throw the towel till the very last, didn't the champions league final teach us that .. :-\
f_spider Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Tot Liverpool was d better team, juz nt as deadly in front of goal........ Drogba's goal was one of d BEST i've ever witness .......... 8) This goal was enuf satisfaction for me - to still b watching The Beautiful Game ;D
armoury Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Let's not forget Chelsea and ManU have also lost 1 each already.... looks like a more interesting race this season. Oh yeah baby... "One-Nillll, to the Arsenal, One-Nillll, to the Arsenal..." ;D
void1624705836 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Once Kuyt hit the post - it was like a bad omen :'( Call it superstitious but more often than not once you hit the post – the goals aren't coming in. Really hope L'pool firepower upfront improves...
scoobydoo Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 In all the disappointment for Liverpool fans, did you all notice the 2 step overs that Aurelio did right on the “D” to dribble past Robben (I think its him)? Shiok…! Also the drag back by Agger to bring out of trouble just outside the Liverpool penalty box? I think Agger is one of the best ball playing centre back in the EPL.
silencer13 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Oh yeah baby... "One-Nillll, to the Arsenal, One-Nillll, to the Arsenal..." ;D YEAH BABY! Lose every game never mind, win ManU is priceless! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
f_spider Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 I juz heard over d BBC, liverpool legend Kenny Daglish saying .................. The LIVERPOOL of today is a CUP team , nothing more!!! (It seems true :o)
Spunky Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 I juz heard over d BBC, liverpool legend Kenny Daglish saying .................. The LIVERPOOL of today is a CUP team , nothing more!!! (It seems true :o) Aiyoh! How many clubs have won the League over the last 25 years? Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal, Leeds, ManU, Blackburn, Chelsea? Did I miss anyone? And the last 10 yrs only have Arsenal, Manu and Chelsea. There aren't many EPL clubs, are there?
tidalstorm Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Steve G should be playing in centre midfield... With Bells and Kite upfront, should play ball to feet and not long balls leh... They bo idea on how to attack after Balls-lack is red carded. Anyway, wat do I knoe compared to Rafa?? Title hopes not gone after 4 matches, just that we need other contenders to slip up (which every team now and then have a mini slump)... Hope Liverpool mini slump ends here.... Another slump again will heavily dent their hopes.. Liverpool of late is a team coming into games not to lose first. Liverpool of old comes into games looking to win... In league, 3 points is wat mattered most... Not those 1-pointer.... Portsmouth for the EPL!!! :P hehehee In Rafa I trust... ;D
armoury Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Aiyoh! To cut-off at 25 years just omits Aston Villa, and before them Nottingham Forest. If you go back into the 70s, though, you'd add the likes of Derby and even Manchester City as champions. But actually, considering only the last 10 years is about right, since every 10 years, if not sooner, almost all the players would have changed, e.g. at Arsenal there isn't a single player in the squad today who was around in 1996 (coincidentally the year Wenger joined) -- the last one who left being Bergkamp. Admittedly at ManYoo there's quite a few, Giggs, Neville and Scholes among them, but they were part of an exceptional batch of youths that came through at the same time. Liverpool I'm sure has no one who was at Anfield in 1996 -- oddly Fowler technically might have, but only because he returned after significant detours, not because of longevity. On that score, Dalglish is right, since Liverpool haven't won the title since 1990, a good 16 years ago, and have finished second only tw or three times at most, each time merely finishing second rather than actually giving the champions a proper run right to the end of the season. Come to think of it, since 1999 when ManYoo pipped Arsenal by just a point on the final day, has any league title been decided only on the last day of the season? I don't think it has.
tidalstorm Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 backburn title winning year? Not sure which year liao... All I know is Blackburn lost to liverpool in the last 10 mins or so but Man U can't beat west ham and hence Blackburn champion liao..... Quite exciting end to the title race.... But most exciting was that Michael Thomas goal that sink Liverpool.. that handed the title to Arsenal....
dude Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 All this talk about the title being over is kinda sensationalist isn't it? I mean, it's just 4 games, and though we're 8 behind Chelski, assuming we win the game in hand, it's 5. If we beat Chelski at Anfield, then the gap is 2. Anyone willing to bet that Chelski won't drop 2 points for the rest of the season? Come on.... Besides, we're only measuring against Chelski, so that means that everyone is admitting that only Chelski can be the winner. That's kinda defeatist, no? If every team gives Chelski as hard a time as Liverpool given them in almost all their matches, Chelski would be very tired very soon, and they will be forced to shuffle their line-up, which means that rhythm and fluency will be affected. Just like what is happening at Liverpool now...every game they go into, everyone fights them tooth and nail, so it is very likely for Liverpool players to be more worn out after a match compared to Chelski players. Of course, have to admit that Chelski players are all technically better (a little bit lah), so they probably expand lesser effort...
ministryofMP3 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 All this talk about the title being over is kinda sensationalist isn't it? Not a bad thing as the pressure/expectation is off the team.

But most exciting was that Michael Thomas goal that sink Liverpool.. that handed the title to Arsenal.... Blackburn won the title in 1994/95. But yes, the finish to the 1988/89 season was, in the words of the immortal Brian Moore, "an unbelievable climax to the League season", "we have the most dramatic finish, maybe in the history of the Football League", and "the top two, challenging on the night, and the title possibly decided in the last minute of the whole season" Happy days... ;D Back to the present, as dude puts it, saying the title is over is sensationalist, but I would say that the point is simply that Chelski are the team to beat -- finish ahead of Chelski, you should be champions. Just as from the entire period from 1993/4 to 2000/1, any club that finished ahead of ManYoo would be champions; at the same time, any club finishing ahead of Arsenal from the period 1997/8 to 2004/5 would similarly be champions -- and of course from 1997/8 to 2003/4 the title swapped between only these two, until Roman's Rouble Rabble muscled in on the party in 2004/5.
Spunky Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 But most exciting was that Michael Thomas goal that sink Liverpool.. that handed the title to Arsenal.... not exciting....but HEARTBREAKING!! :'(
SiriuslyCold Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 ...Chelski are the team to beat -- finish ahead of Chelski, you should be champions. reminds me of Uncle Roy RICHARD KEYS: Well, Roy, do you think you'll have to finish above Man Utd to win the league? ROY EVANS: You have to finish above everyone to win the league, Richard.
f_spider Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Come to tink of it , Pool's 11 men was playing against 10 men last weekend......... and yet they hav nothing to show for it.......... i m lost for words :-X
dude Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Chelski lost an attacking player...makes no difference to the defence. See what happens if Terry gets sent off
SiriuslyCold Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Liv 3 - 0 Spurs Awesome 2nd half display. Almost went down 0-1 but Jenas managed to miss an open goal from 2 yrds out and 30 seconds later Bellamy hits the post from 1 yrd. fortunately Gonzalez followed up and scored What about that goal by Riise?? Andy Gray "36yrds out against the England keeper who knew it was coming..."
