Madsumm Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 Can't really give any feedback on CM1. But one thing for sure, I'm enjoying the singing of these malts. Again, it suits will for rooms, not halls. My Martin Logans handle the hall much better. Rgds
deano Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I saw merdaka audio ad the sa4 selling $1100

Madsumm Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Tired? I think I just found new life it in after running it in using the Magic CD. A few things I've noticed though, you need a powerful amp to drive these speakers. Yes, its rated at 100W at 6Ohms. But it nearly drive the head out of one of the test YBA amp. For my Yamaha integrated, usually its unusually loud already at -30db, these malts will only sing after around -21dB. A few things I've noticed and will likely upgrade are the screws to stainless steel, and in the interconnects within the speakers and maybe the binding post. These speakers are also not meant for rock music. Chamber, Baroque, Jazz singing, bossa, unplugs, work great!! Rgds
Madsumm Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 Have gotten a new NAD 352 over the weekend. Found that its a perfect match for the Malts. Amper power to drive these devils as well. Still running in as well for the speakers and speaker cables (just got a simple Canare 4S11 for now) It has much more bottom end now after a few weeks of running in. Soundstage getting bigger and for its size, really happy with the "largeness" it produces. Rgds
hnx676 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Hi! Wondering where in Japan you bought the speakers. I am also considering the puremalt as I am looking for a pair of bookself speakers to work with my Arcam Solo... Please post some opinion on how it may sounds like, especially if you have a chance to drive it with a 50Wpc integrated amp ... Just got a pair!! Its 64,000 yen or around S$900. I belief there are other shops as well you can just handcarry it back. Its light. 10kg for a pair. For 50Wpc IA, I would not advice. You need some power to drive these speakers. They are rated about 84db. For how it sounds, its really sweet sounding. The mids and highs are seriously "There". Bass are of course, less intrusive, sometimes, even missing depending on how you place it. A good pair of stands would do the trick. Voices, jazz.. audiophile jazz music sounds really great in these tiny speakers. Rgds
hnx676 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Thanks for the advise. Are the puremalt biwire-able? I have not had a chance to check out the speakers physically at SLS ... Guest medp9153 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Read the review of the spk on Sunday Zao Bao. If not mistaken the reviewer suggested matching them with tube amps for the best effect.
Madsumm Posted October 5, 2006 Author Posted October 5, 2006 I did ran with my tube amps as well. Its really nice and warm too, no doubt. But since I'm going to put this for bedroom and for ambiance music then serious listening, I would choose a more efficient SS amp instead. Unless of course, you would want to do some serious listening. Rgds
hnx676 Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Would be interested to know which SS amp you pair up with the pure malt and the outcome of this combination. Kindly share your view. I am actually thinking about using it for my study and pair it us with a Arcam Solo... It may deserve a tube amp to perform it's best (based on what the review said ...) but i am interested in findout the mileage on a SS amp... I did ran with my tube amps as well. Madsumm Posted October 9, 2006 Author Posted October 9, 2006 I paired it with NAD 352. I've no complains at all. I belief the Arcam Solo should b good too if not better. Rgds
