arsenal_sucks Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I am gearing up to setup my own HTPC and have been planning integrate a PVR solution into it. Looking into a few models like Pinnacle PMC 300i MC and the WinTV 150MCE. Just got the Windows MCE 2005 and would be installing it on my system to test it out. Just want to know about some information on using of PVR. I want to know : 1) Scheduler to Record my TV Shows 2) Can I be able to record SCV Cable shows, or is it just Local Free to Air Channels? Love EPL :-* 3) EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is it supported in Singapore? Your recommandations on the 2 choices, since once receive feedback will be going to SLS to purchase one to try out. :)

I am currently using the 150MCE & find it ok. Answers to your ? 1) U will have to do 3) i.e get EPG working & this will be easy 2) For manual recording, definitely possible but for auto-recording, U will have to configure the IR blaster to change the channel on your SH set-top box. I ahve not tried this as I am not a SH subscriber. If U r using the tuner to record the free-to-air channels, not a problem once U get part 3 working. 3) I believe Microsoft does not have EPG for Singapore. U will have to use some other 3-rd party softwares (luckily these r free) & manually confiure them to auto download then convert then import the EPG into MCE's interface. With EPG working, U will be able to view all the channels programmes for the week & just click on the program U want to record & schedule it to record once or daily or weekly, etc. Have Fun !!!
simic Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 i use PVR150 for my video capture card. For the application, I use GBPVR, its free and rather good. For EPG, i use tvbxb to scrap the listings from the local websites. htpc-gear used to host the EPGs in XML format, but they got a nice friendly letter from starhub, so now everyone is scraping their own listings. ;) PM me if you need more help.

Well, I have no experience with MCE. Maybe you can pop over to http://www.htpc-gear.com/, it a local PVR forum. There are more gurus over there with experience on MCE + bladerunner pro.
sunsetbay Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 for those using starhub digital STB, u can set the auto tune feature to program the channels to be tuned on the preset time. with that u can program your tv card to tune to that preset channel & time. it's double programming but it easier way to get it works. mediacorp digital channels offer EPG. so far i think WinFast DTV make EPG programming the easiest. ;)
