BobaFett Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Dolby® TrueHD is Dolby’s next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. Dolby TrueHD delivers tantalizing sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master, unlocking the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs. When coupled with high-definition video, Dolby TrueHD offers an unprecedented home theater experience that lets you enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture. Features * 100 percent lossless coding technology. * Up to 18 Mbps bit rate. * Supports up to eight full-range channels of 24-bit/96 kHz audio.* * Supported by High-Definition Media Interface (HDMI™), the new single-cable digital connection for audio and video. * Supports extensive metadata including dialogue normalization and dynamic range control. *Dolby TrueHD can support more than eight audio channels. HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc standards currently limit their maximum number of audio channels to eight. Benefits * Delivers enthralling studio-master-quality sound that unlocks the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs. * Offers more discrete channels than ever before for impeccable surround sound. * Compatible with the A/V receivers and home-theaters-in-a-box (HTIBs) of today and tomorrow. * Dialogue normalization maintains the same volume level when you change to other Dolby Digital and Dolby TrueHD programming. * Dynamic range control (Night mode) enables you to customize audio playback to reduce peak volume levels (no loud surprises) while experiencing all the details in the soundtrack, enabling late-night viewing of high-energy surround sound without disturbing others. * Selected as the mandatory format for HD DVD and as an optional format for Blu-ray Disc. Where You’ll Find Dolby TrueHD HD disc player, A/V receiver, home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB), automobile, personal computer Single-Cable Digital Connection Increasingly, A/V processors and receivers are being equipped with IEEE 1394 (FireWire®) or HDMI connections, capable of transporting up to eight channels of 24-bit/96 kHz PCM audio content. If your A/V receiver is equipped with this type of next generation connection, you should look for a similarly furnished next-generation optical media player. By this method of connection, the mixed PCM signal is transported from the HD player to your A/V receiver, where digital signal processing and bass management can be easily effected. Multichannel Analog Connection A next-generation optical player may also include line-level audio outputs sourced from the multichannel mixed PCM signals passed through digital-to-analog converters. The advent of SACD and DVD-Audio in recent years has led to the incorporation of 5.1 and even 7.1 external inputs on many A/V receivers. If your A/V receiver is equipped with 5.1 or 7.1 external audio inputs, the selection of an optical player equipped with 5.1- or 7.1 channel line-level outputs will provide full-bandwidth reproduction of the audio signal originating from your HD player. A connection through either of these existing interfaces will let you experience the full potential of the high-resolution audio delivered on next-generation optical formats. Those with firmware 2.0 on their Toshiba HD-A1, time to enjoy Dolby TrueHD! ;)
BobaFett Posted September 3, 2006 Author Posted September 3, 2006 Who is enjoying Dolby TrueHD now? ;)
SiriuslyCold Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 i think at the moment the HD player will decode. it'll be some time before dolby TrueHD gets into receivers - HDMI 1.3 needs to be in place on both player and receiver too
oliverlim Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 any receiver can decode Dolby trueHD? Only when a reciever has HDMI 1.3. So far thats the only way to send Dolby TrueHD via digital. Think it will be next year before we see the first processor or reciever that can accept and decode it. Ya u will also need a new HD DVD or Bluray with HDMI 1.3 as well.....or analog 5.1 out is the only way to get TruHD at this time. Oliver
