tsphua Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Yo Guys, Just got a XR-57, need recommendation for Bi-Wire cables 1) what is good and resonable cost? 2) where to get them at best price? I was looking at the QED Silver Anniversay XT Bi-Wire, is it good? where to get? Thanks
pcking1624705747 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Canare 4S11 from LHS :p I am using the 4S11 for all my channels on my XR-55. Cheap & good. ;D
volks_ong Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Hi , I have a pair of Belden 1810A bi-wire and one for center speaker used for 1 week, PM me if you are interested. thanks
ccwjames Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Canare 4S11 from LHS :p how much is your Canare 4S11?
Quest88 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 i think the more important question is for system matching.
dbchoong Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 LHS?? stand for?? LHS is a shop in Sim Lim Tower. 2nd floor #02-27 I think. They carry many kinds of cables - from speaker cables to computer network cables... ;)
hifiluv Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 i m using Belden for HT and Canare 4S11 for music as I find the Belden gives a "faster" sound, suitable for movies. the Canare 4S11 gives very balanced and full body sound, so if u are using the system both for music and movies, then its a good choice. if u decide on the Belden, go for the 14AWG (thicker) than the 17 AWG, give u a better sound also btw what speakers are u using, becos matching is an issue. give u an eg. i hv QED XT300, dont do too well with KEF or Energy but when i hook them up to Monitor Audio... its very good. happy hunting. :)
tsphua Posted August 30, 2006 Author Posted August 30, 2006 I have Monitor Audio S1 now, will try with the Xr-57 first. But thinking of upgrading to GS20 for the fronts. Where can I find QED cables?
koma Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 sorry to barge in on tis thread, any recommendations for single wire wires for connecting xr55 to svs speakers? the canre 4s11 r bi wire but can be splitted into single wires rite? also if i gettin beldens which model number cable is recommended? also any good banana plugs to recommend or should i juz get the 1s they r sellin at lhs? was tinkin of gettin those generic silver coated copper cables frm kec which cost $2/m.
kzone Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I'm using the 4S11 as single wire.. twisted the 2 red leads together & the same for the white... doing bare wire at the speaker ends & banana plugs (like the one in the small pic of the thread below) at the amp side.. http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=40906.0 Since the wires r quite thick, i discarded the silver colored ring & used heat shrink instead... Did a short comparison between single lead vs double leads by connecting the surround as main speakers & listed to CD (stereo) & preferred the double leads. Never tried other cables for surround though...

tsphua Posted September 2, 2006 Author Posted September 2, 2006 Does LHS open on sunday and if so what time?
basspundit Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I was thinking of doing bi-amping for my mains, but how accurately must the length of the new cable be? Would the woofs/tweets be out of phase if its just 2/3 mm longer/shorter than each other? mucho gracias
Desperado Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Does LHS open on sunday and if so what time? They are closed on Sunday, and open half day on Saturday

Imagine if it does matter.. everybody go to LHS and ask them to use a precision ruler to measure and cut the cable.. damn jia lat liao.... FYI, my speaker cable are of different length for left and right.....
