Yo Guys,

Just got a XR-57, need recommendation for Bi-Wire cables

1) what is good and resonable cost?

2) where to get them at best price?

I was looking at the QED Silver Anniversay XT Bi-Wire, is it good? where to get?

LHS?? stand for??

LHS is a shop in Sim Lim Tower. 2nd floor #02-27 I think.

They carry many kinds of cables - from speaker cables to computer network cables...

i m using Belden for HT and Canare 4S11 for music as I find the Belden gives a "faster" sound, suitable for movies.  the Canare 4S11 gives very balanced and full body sound, so if u are using the system both for music and movies, then its a good choice.

if u decide on the Belden, go for the 14AWG (thicker) than the 17 AWG, give u a better sound also

btw what speakers are u using, becos matching is an issue.  give u an eg. i hv QED XT300, dont do too well with KEF or Energy but when i hook them up to Monitor Audio... its very good.

happy hunting.  :)

I have Monitor Audio S1 now, will try with the Xr-57 first. But thinking of upgrading to GS20 for the fronts.

Where can I find QED cables?

I'm using the 4S11 as single wire.. twisted the 2 red leads together & the same for the white... doing bare wire at the speaker ends & banana plugs (like the one in the small pic of the thread below) at the amp side..

Since the wires r quite thick, i discarded the silver colored ring & used heat shrink instead...

Did a short comparison between single lead vs double leads by connecting the surround as main speakers & listed to CD (stereo) & preferred the double leads. Never tried other cables for surround though...

for my HT front speakers, i m doing the same for Belden 17AWG, twisting 2 single cable to be used as one as i find the sound is better... don't know if its pyschological.  :)

I was thinking of  doing bi-amping for my mains, but how accurately must the length of the new cable be?

Would the woofs/tweets be out of phase if its just 2/3 mm longer/shorter than each other?

mucho gracias

I don't think it matters. It is more physicological effect if there is.

Imagine if it does matter.. everybody go to LHS and ask them to use a precision ruler to measure and cut the cable.. damn jia lat liao....

FYI, my speaker cable are of different length for left and right.....
