Transworld Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Did you check out the spades at basement, Dave Jones? The spades there should meet your requirement.

MC_Hammer Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 why use spade when banana plugs are more user friendly n more secured ?
SiriuslyCold Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 maybe he doesn't dig them... (sic) boy I've been waiting for some time to make that pun...
hifiluv Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 why use spade when banana plugs are more user friendly n more secured ? don't know if u guys have tis experience, whenever i used bared wire and screw them down at the terminal, no matter how tightly i turn the screw terminal, after a while, the connection comes loose and then i have to tighten the terminals again. the only reason i know of is tat the vibrations of the speaker cabinet will loosen the screwed on terminal. if not mistaken, spade also got to screwed on on, will they also hv this lossening effect? for me, "problem" solved when i use banana plugs. :)

They don't exhibit this problem if you screw them really right.
luq_skywalker Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I second that .. i especially like those with the 'unopened umbrella' like design banana plugs I bought from SLT .. it's hard to push in though , like a virgin initially .. but when it's in, it fits snuglly .. damn good fit, I like .. ;D i think even the erathquake wun make it loose again
ohlins Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 you can get good quality spades at x-audio and musiclink (shaw tower)

hifiluv Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 i am using these, quite good becos very fast to connect the bare wires but wires are exposed to oxidation, so every once in a while, need to trim the wires ... :) and these, i like tis type better becos there are 2 screws to hold the bared wires to the plug and the expose wires are covered up completed by 2 casings, but i find the weakness at the neck area and being chor lor, end up breaking up some, :'(
Quest88 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 monster cable actually has quite good devices for such things, that comes with diff type of connectors. you can open the base of the plug (split it into 2 pieces), and insert the bare wire directly into the plug so its not exposed. clamps shut well also. think i saw it at tat chuan at adelphi.
