Came across above-mentioned dvdp being offered for $900. Yes, obsoleted model but brand new in-the-box.

Currently using a month old Toshiba SD-770SR via HDMI. Performance-wise, so far so good except that I preferred having both the components and HDMI source at same time - just

nit-picking maybe.

Sincerely welcome advice and recommendations from owners of this player and good-natured

forumers whether its make sense to own it. Although comments on this dvdp has been well received in the past but felt best to seek fellow forumers' opinions since there's no way for me to check it out.

Replies whether good or negative are most welcome. Thank you.

I have one.  It's pretty good.

For a phased-out model, $900 sounds a bit high, considering I paid under $1,200 for it about 18 months ago when it was still Pioneer's top DVD-P.  Now that it's been superseded by the 989, surely it should go for much less?

Hi Armoury, thanks for the clarification. I had the impression that it was selling in the

region of $1600 last year before it was phased out. Like you said, obviously a tad too expensive to pay for one now. Appreciate your thoughtful response. Thanks!
