Guest leewm Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I use the Lite DAC-AH with Squeezebox. I am no expert in HiFi. Comparing the analog out of Squeezebox vs Lite DAC-AH, i think DAC-AH sounds better.

Guest leewm Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Someone mentioned in echoloft that Lite DAC-Ah is sold in Singapore for SGD300 http://www.echoloft.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.cgi?board=tell&action=display&num=1140065129&start=10 I got a friend to bring it back from HK for < HKD600 There are other "cheap" DAC around eg Zhaolu and Diyeden You can find some discussion in http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=189604 Lite, Zhaolu and Diyeden are all made in China.

liuhao Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 i am eyeing zhaolu 2.0, Lite AM, and Yulong Crystal DAC. all china made in the range of $200 to $300.

liuhao Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 May I know where can I get the DAC u guys suggested in Singapore. Thks in advance. ;) zhaolu and lite DAC have to order from HK, though getting from china would be even cheaper. Yulong DAC have to order from china. heard there is a malaysia distrubutor for Yulong. i think local dealers are not very interested in distributing due to the low cost of these DAC. even 100% margin how much profit can they make? another reason might be the mindset. local market acceptance for MIC hifi stuffs are still quite low. i think local people are not very keen on MIC product unless it got good review by US and European. though we are geographically closer to china but mindset is much farer than that of US and European. Zhaolu is a very good example in this sense.
Spunky Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Yah lor! These items so easy to get online and also don't have mass market. Even if u earn $100 a unit, u have to sell a few tens to earn yourself a month's wage, not to mention the overheads. And, of coz, it's not uncommon to have some guy PI same thing and happy with a $20 profit. ::)
hifiluv Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 the Dared MP5 experience show its ok to buy direct fm overseas, especially if its a small and not too heavy piece of equipment. only thing is no warranty lor... :P
Jason Tee Posted August 3, 2006 Author Posted August 3, 2006 Thks everyone for ur input, greatly appreciated. ;)
