artemov Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Hi, I am getting an AV receiver with preouts as I am powering my front speakers with a separate stereo amp. One question: Will FM radio channels pass through the preouts so that I can listen to them on my front speakers? Another question: Should I control the volume of my front speakers using the receiver or the stereo amp? The receiver I have in mind is a Marantz SR4500 or a used SR5200. Thanks.
dbchoong Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 The FM will pass through the pre-outs. Your stereo amp has volume control? You should control the volume control with the receiver and max the stereo amp's volume. ;D

The amp is also connected to my CDP, if I max the volume on the amp, wouldn't it be a bit dangerous if I on my CDP??

dbchoong Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 If you're only making use of the AVR as a FM tuner to your integrated amp, why not consider a proper tuner instead of a AVR? :)
