deano Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 http://www.hardwarezone.com/news/view.php?id=4966&cid=5 Pioneer’s exciting line of AV Receivers - VSX-816-S, VSX-516-S, and VSX-416-S – are the entry models to the higher grade home theater system for AV fun. With 7 channels of high powered amplification in the VSX-816-S, you can turn up the volume and immerse yourself in the 3 dimensional surround sound experiences of today's DVD movies, music, games, PC audio, and High-Definition TV. Auto MCACC ensures easy set-up and multi-channel accuracy. I went to check on the net. This new range is using Freescale 180 MIPS 48bit. The old C range, listed in the consolation topic, used Motorola 150 MIPS 48bits. So can i say these ARE digital av rec? In singapore is about 600 sg! What is a good stepdown for such equipment? no component connectors at all though.
SiriuslyCold Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 the Freescale are processor chips not amplifiers the C502 is a digital amp, but it isn't a new model I think? (you can tell new models almost always have 7.1 channels) edit: check out this thread
deano Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 lol not only is the us version MUCH cheaper, they have component connectors(2i/1o), whilst our model REMOVED the component connect!! think twice about buying local version even for the warranty! >:( ok i know the c502 is an old model, i brought it up because that one was confirmed(?) to be a digital amp. how about this new series? how to look out for digital? pioneer said this series is a hybrid amp with thermal monitoring. sounds real good and cheap makes me suspect it is digital amp?
SiriuslyCold Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 dunno, haven't been able to find out why Pioneer calls their amps hybrids. some technical documentation might help
