lol! Cute!

But at last ManU fans can see what the rest of the footballing world knew all along - they bought a dirty lying arrogant cheat. Hated him the first time I saw him play in ManU colors. Was very happy everytime I saw Roy Keane scold him for diving.  :)

Actually I Like Ronaldo better than Rooney

1) He's better looking than Rooney...Rooney looks like a  bloated  Bulldog :'(

2)Ronaldo got brains ;D ..Rooney has none :(..Ronaldo know his arrogant impulsive team-mate  well enough n  it  is so easy to get Roonie sent off ! ;)

3) Rooney is an over-sell..too much publicity...Ronaldo is more versatile on the Field

The problem with England team is they are over paid...too much crapped publicity in the press...you don't hear such crapped with other countries..the only Hungry player they have is  Rooney.......Unfortunately he is just a Ruffian Kid !...I don't foresee Rooney having a long Future ahead !

All these are my personal opinions...

True, C.Ronaldo may look better and has more brains than bulldog Rooney (I don't like him either) - but I really hate players who whine, fall down as if he was shot on the slightest touch and use devious methods to get other players sent off. Not a true sportsman. It is effective, it is clever, but it ruins the beautiful game.

Unfortunately, until the day UEFA/FIFA revamps the refereeing system to use video, I don't think England will win any major tournaments as they are really "too sporting". They don't dive enough, whine enough and cheat enough.

Actually, I'm not sure Ronaldo helped Man U. I feel that he acutually helped himself to a much more comfortable lifestyle by joining Man U, since higher profile, advertisers look for him..

Of course, as a Liverpool fan, I am happy that he joined Man U  ;D In fact, I hope he does not leave Man U.....I'd be real interested to see what happens then.....

For one, I suspect Sir Alex is probably gonna give him a huge raise...for 'helping' him protect the 30 million pound investment, Rooney, from further injury.....

I can't condone Ronaldo's diving but while I might be a bit biased as a Man U supporter, I don't think he's been that bad in the Premiership after Roy Keane told him off a few times.

I think he and many others are trying to take advantage of the poor refereeing in the WC. Even ZZ got some words from the ref for diving. In the Premiership the ref is much more likely to ignore the dive or book the diver. I can only recall one booking for diving in the WC.

Henry (FRANCE ) was  clearly Diving...he dived 2 secs after he was tackled in the penalty box...It shouldn't be a penalty

So diving ....everybody is doing it !

If I am C Ronaldo , I will do the same thing as him to send the impulsive Looney Rooney off !

Henry dropped at slightest touch by Carvalho to get penalty that brought them to final.

Italy's Grosso 90th minute "fall" in the game against Australia won them the game which they would have surely lost if it went to extra time.

I guess football's like this. It's not only about football skills, but also good acting. Maybe that's the reason why football is so interesting - because of all these controversies.

i think..football is interesting because your supported club/country/team wins (for the partizan fan)

and a show of skills..technique..goals for the neutrals ..

not gamesmanship tactics ..that one we got WWE to provide

No, his trailing leg was the one that was caught, which is why it looks odd, but when you see the replay from the front, you can see that it was definitely a foul.  I suppose Henry could have tried harder to stay on his feet/regain balance, but nowadays no one seems to bother to try any more.

What is really self-serving is Carvalho saying the ref should have played the advantage.  What rubbish.

For me football is interesting becos I betted $$$$$ on it ;D...otherwise some of the games are a BIG BIG Yawn..n at 3am in the morning ZZZZZZZzzzzzz

I am French and although I am very happy to have a Italy France finale, I still think his trailing leg was not cought up, even though Carvalho may have tried.

From all the angles I saw I never cought up a contact.

As for useing video, it will never happen, because soccer is as much about watching the game for 90 minutes as arguing about the referee for the next 4 years.

I'm on the fence regarding video evidence; on one hand I feel that referees and assistants (and their foibles and failures ) - them being human after all - are as much a part of the game as are all the players who can have their failuers as well. Putting in video evidence takes that part out of the game, and i think dehumanizes it to a certain extent.

On the other hand... you know the arguments

Posted

the human aspects of the game are the personalities of the players/managers or maybe even referee..

I mean whats the point of playing according to the rules when there's a significant room for error...

perhaps we should amend the rules ..

eg. If your football goes across the goal line of your opponents, you score a point IF the referee(s) sees it

If a player from a team handles the ball in is own penalty area on purpose, it is deemed a penalty kick for the opponent BUT ONLY IF the referee(s) acknowledges it

this power to the referee also allow people to exploit it for their own purposes..i.e. to kelong matches

all rules and laws are the same - enforcement is on the basis of the enforcer seeing it and thereby does not have to be included; for example traffic laws: breaking a red light is an offence only if you are caught at least on camera if not in person :P

but unlike the context of traffic cameras which is pretty diff and costly to implement..not to mention impractical ... slow montion video replays from multiple angles already exist now .. it's just not being used as a tool for refereeing a match

that makes it even more absurd  :P

I think that justice should supersede rules. If a rule is stupid, change it! The main objective of having referees is to maintain fair play. If a rule is an obstacle to fair play, than change it!

So if diving in football is an offence and the act is caught on video, isnt it good enough to be used as evidence? And u have more than 1 camera shooting during a game and from different angles too!  ;D

BTW, video can be used as evidence to prosecute hooliganism in UK stadiums (notice the great decline in trouble at matches compared to the 80s?) so why cant it be used against unfair play?  ???
