Geraint Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Hi guys, i'm now sourcing for a budget amp + speakers since my Aego 2 die on my last week. right now i'm having some budget constraint so thinking of getting the amp first so i narrow down the choice of amp. NAD C350 Audiolab 8000A so guys which one will be a better choice? my type of music are mainly dance and jrock.
bolts1624705732 Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I haven't heard the NAD. But for the Audiolab, the sound is neutral and a bit on the dry side. My cousin has got one.
synthesis1624705793 Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 The NAD is rather punchy and detailed; probably more suitable for you.
hifiluv Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 The NAD is rather punchy and detailed; probably more suitable for you. agree, i would go for the NAD, but best to audition both.. becos end of the day... u must like the sound, bring some familiar CDs to audit. if u are still open to options, consider the Rotel RA-932 going for only $150 at Zenn Audio (www.zenn.com.sg), comes with remote, phono input, 35W x 2. Rotel is also reputed for fast, punchy sound suited for fast rock / dance music. hv fun hunting, :)
Geraint Posted June 28, 2006 Author Posted June 28, 2006 okay. thanks for the replies guys. ;) hifiluv, will take that into consideration too. ;)
hifiluv Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 okay. thanks for the replies guys. ;) hifiluv, will take that into consideration too. ;) Hi Geriant, just went to Zenn Audio website and saw Rotel amp was sold, so did u? else what's the story update on yr hifi hunt? Tks :)

Geraint Posted July 9, 2006 Author Posted July 9, 2006 ongus, i already pass my aego2 to my brother in law. ;) btw guys any comments on Wharfedale Pacific Evo-8?
hifiluv Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 yea. it's sold. :( wasnt able to go down due to my busy schedule in camp. :/ for the time being, now i'm using my earfone. lol kinda pathetic. I'm still sourcing for good, cheap amp and speakers while trying to up my budget a bit. :D if amp for bedroom use or medium size room, consider the Dared MP5, at $270 covers courier service right to your doorstep. only thing, imported so no warranty. i have it since 2 June and has crossed 200 hours without any problems. (see thread on tis). for speakers, set budget (say max $300 for eg) and if u dont mind used item, see daily posts at xplace, echoloft, yahoo auction, singnet classi online. got my speakers 2nd hand, KEF, Monitor Audio, so far no problems. :)
zapp1624705742 Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I think there is a guy selling diamond 8.1 for 100 bucks at echoloft...GOOD DEAL http://www.echoloft.com/cgi-bin/buysell/YaBB.cgi?board=hifi&action=display&num=1152526803
hifiluv Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I think there is a guy selling diamond 8.1 for 100 bucks at echoloft...GOOD DEAL yep can audition and see if u like the sound and looks. :) i remember when i bought my Mission M73, i was also doing A/B with the 8.1 (using Rotel amp), but i decided to go for the M73, with it giving a clearer sound, which in due time, i find it too clinical for my liking. so i sold and bought the KEF Cresta II (Made in Belgium), which i m still using and happy with it for a year now, IMHO, its one of the most musical speaker for the $ :)

Hope the guy reply to me soon. :)
mc21624705787 Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Incidentally, there's a Kresta 2 on sale in the forums too. Go check it out.
HardGainer Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Hi guys, i'm now sourcing for a budget amp + speakers since my Aego 2 die on my last week. right now i'm having some budget constraint so thinking of getting the amp first so i narrow down the choice of amp. NAD C350 Audiolab 8000A so guys which one will be a better choice? my type of music are mainly dance and jrock. Forget the 8000A... wait for the 8000S. Much muc better. NAD is too warmth and Rotel is punching which requires careful with right speakers.... So, audiolab is the safest to try in that sense....
