Think the HD in HD-FVD means High Definition and not Hard Disk.

So, it'll need blank FVD media.

US$200 for a non hard-disk recordable not exactly very attractive, but I guess FVD can record in high def and have a higher (not sure how much) capacity.

It is standard:

- HDD= Hard Disk

- HD= High Definition

You mean this is a hard disk recorder or need blank media for the recording ?

Saw this little subject "Regional DVD standards battle: FVD may benefit from EVD vendor's financial troubles (Apr 6)" in the digitimes (from chualcsg first post)... but could not access the news (have to pay to read their news :o). But based on the subject title, seems like EVD is dying.

;D

ps. found the EVD news here: http://www.cdfreaks.com/news2.php?ID=13282
