hifiluv Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Hi was at LHS last Sat to buy some speaker cable, spoke with Robert about RGB cable, he recommended Belden 1694A terminated by Canare RCA plugs. got a set from him and replaces the cheapo no brand cable tat i was using, which was a frustration becos the colour runs in and out. test a DVD, Vanassa Mae Red Hot Tour. u know what, i cound actually see the beads of sweat on her forehead which previously was not "there"...pleasant surprise. Robert said run in approx 20 hours, after colour and clarity will be even better. did some search on tis cable, appaprently it was recommended even for professional use. http://www.bluejeanscable.com/pages/technicaldocs/1694tech.htm recommended as decent entry level video cable. :)
Jag Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Ah, I was in your very same shoes about 5yrs ago. Used Belden 1694a until i realised how good the Canare RCA plugs can be when paired up with Canare's own Canare L-5CFB cable. In my opinion, the canrea RCA plug paired up with canare's own cable is better as it was designed to be used together optimally. Just a food for thought the next time u buy more cables. :)

zapp1624705742 Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 after reading thru many posts in this forum - when i went to LHS i went straight for the Canare L-5CFBs for component cables to hook up my DVDP...BUT aiya when i installed my PJ (done by KEC) i think the cables they provided were dunno what brand...didnt look like 1694A to me...so not really sure which might make that the weak link but meh i still enjoying my PJ so...no complaints...
manik_saha Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I'm getting a set made using Belden 7731 A.. this looks like the mother of all component cables.. will report in the quality once it is in. ;D
zoossh Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 anyone can advise where is a gd place to get this and what budget am i looking for? is 2m a standard length for most purposes? me getting a samsung R7 32" LCD for my gf to be mounted on wall likely 1-1.5m high on the wall to be connected to a dvd system yet to be decided. chances are that she is not a IT/sound quality enthusiast and me more into photography and just being a layman, we are more likely to be getting a small cheap system less than S$500). but considering that we hope still to get a decent output from our system and not let the cable be the limting factor.... need to get more information regarding this. saw this LA audio selling $88 per cable and discounted at $174 for 3 component cables for RGB connection - from audio house my gf heard about this brand called daiyo or dayo costing about $70 plus, gold plated but not separate component cables. i'm more keen to follow the professionals over here but to keep at a budget (in order to convince my gf). wonder if this Belden 1694A will do the job for me.... any advices on the cost and where to get it?
zapp1624705742 Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 i think 1694 will do the job lol...it is a professional cable - w/o the frills and whistles of packaging and advertisements :p
zoossh Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 i think 1694 will do the job lol...it is a professional cable - w/o the frills and whistles of packaging and advertisements :p is that a RGB video cable that is component, i.e. 1 monster cable for each channel? so charges = 60 plus x 3?
zapp1624705742 Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 go down LHS and ask robert how much per meter i can be sure if u get 2m it will cost maybe about 60 plus for all 3 cable. The canare RCA plugs are like 7 bucks a piece. Do a search in the forums...plenty of info
UpGuy Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 agree with the rest...go for belden 1694a for component connection ...no frills , quality and value for money
