abhi_boatclub Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Thinking of buying one of Infocus 4805 Vs 5000 - but quite confused. It will be used @ home for Starhub tv sometimes / DVDs & Gaming more often ... Any inputs appreciated if i should go for one or the other ...
xbfloater Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Hi abhi_boatclub, Seems like you're going thru the same consideration process as I did 1.5 month back... =) But models are very budget-friendly & good for HT/gaming! SP4805 has a good deinterlacer in the Faroudja chip but it is just native 480p whereas the SP5000 does not have the same video processing chip but it is after all, a native 720p projector. SP4805 has better contrast while SP5000 is brighter but contrast may not be as good as SP4805. SP4805 is DLP-based while SP5000 is LCD-based. Both type has its pros & cons. In the end, I decided to spend the extra cash to get the SP5000 for future native support of downscaled 1080i HDTV channels, native 480p/720p HD Xbox-gaming & upscaled 720p DVD playbacks... Also, I opted for a grey screen (instead of a white one) to try to improve the contrast for enhanced black colours. So, the decision is really up to you... All depends if your eyes and/or budget prefer which model... Haha! So try to audition them within the same session... BTW, are you considering them at Fast Logic...? =) Cheers, xbfloater
abhi_boatclub Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 Thanks a lot for the inputs :) Yeap - fastlogic is on the list !! Any recommendations for other place :)? fastlogic not ready to demo either 4805 or 5000 to me :-/ since they have high end ones hooked up in their demo rooms! I would really like to compare the output side by side before i spend the $$$s :) Thanks
