Guest AT Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Sigh... I was wondering why my YesAsia.com DVD order had not arrived after 4-5 days. Then I got a letter on the 7th day from SingPost stating that my package was detained by Customs and I was referred to MDA for collection. Geez! Haven't ordered DVDs online for quite awhile. The last time I ordered from YesAsia.com was more than a year ago. Their shipment are pretty fast too. Wonder this is my bad luck or things have been stepped up? By the way, the three titles I ordered should be PG-friendly namely Isabella (HK), Sad Movie (KR) and Until the Lights Come Back (JP). One of them is First Press LE. Ouch. :'(
Deimos Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 hmmm.. I guess things has been stepped up. read in other thread , there has been quite a few detained dvd shipment as well the thread here : http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=38545.0

InnocentBlood Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 AT, i hope you get your stuff back safe and sound soon :)
ntuc Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 yes. now i think step up but i feel luck is important too. my cousin bought some dvds from amazon and kena. another friend got from yesasia nothing happen. so i guess it is random?
Deimos Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 it is random but they are picking up paces randomly chosing packages to detain as if sending a msg : "we are closing one eye , but dun take it for granted " (?) there was a time long long ago when amazon packages which openly declared their packages as dvd got detained very often (my first and only few were all amazon packages, well 3 to be precise) and then there was a lapse period and now ... (but the good thing is we still get our dvds back but still they will not go to extend to raid yr house bah ...(hope not) ;D
Guest AT Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Lunch break. Will swing by MDA to pick them up. My memory is failing me. During the late 90s, I actually had all my DVD shipments detained. But I never have to go down to FPD because they were all sent back! Hahahaha. I chose to forget it because I only lost shipping costs. :'( Ya, I hope I get my DVDs back safely considering one is a First Press Limited Edition. :'(
Guest ottimo Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Don't worry, as long as your title is not banned, you will get them back. The only thing is you will have to wait 1 day and pay for the stickers (1.80 each). Lunch break. Will swing by MDA to pick them up. My memory is failing me. Guest AT Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Okay, the good news is, I got back Isabella (HK) and Sad Movie (KR) after paying $3.60 The bad news is, the most expensive and exclusive DVD is withheld for review. They can't verify Until The Lights Come Back (JR) as it's not in their database. I tot the movie shown here? Or is it dat someone recommended me the movie after watching it on flight. Anyway, the staff was nice, polite and patience. Someone juz told I have to pay for the review? True or false? Can't find any info on that at MDA website leh. Well, a nice trip down and have to make another if my DVD is approved.
armoury Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 As a private consumer, even if the title is not in the database, once it's cleared you still only pay the $1.80. In my case, I was apparently the first person in Singaopre to import That 70's Show Season 3, so it took a while for them to review it all, but after it was complete the charge was still only $1.80. If, however, you are a video importer/distributor, I think they charge on a per-hour of viewing basis. Which would have been quite expensive for a TV box-set... :o
Guest ottimo Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 You were lucky, usually they will ask you to collect it 1 day after if stickers are required, fax the authorisation to open parcel form to them next time, so you will only need to make one trip. After the viewing, if they accept it, you will still pay 1.80 for it, if they do not, your money is gone, unless your title is R21 or above else just get your 1.80 ready ;D Okay, the good news is, I got back Isabella (HK) and Sad Movie (KR) after paying $3.60 The bad news is, the most expensive and exclusive DVD is withheld for review. Deimos Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 can we prepaid them 180 bucks so that we can minimise the hassle of going down each time they intercept a disc just hold it for 1 day , then ship out to us together with the sticker just a silly tot ! ;D
InnocentBlood Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 just got the letter today - my latest 2 packages from DDD also got detained... :(
Corona11 Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 just got the letter today - my latest 2 packages from DDD also got detained... :( Gee SG getting more restrictive day by day...cannot d/l movie, cannot buy D9, buy original also get detained. Sigh ! Why dont you guys buy from ebay? I have never had problems so far, touch wood.
Guest AT Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Hey Innocent Blood, looks like it's a STEP UP man! :o Anyway, picking up my DVD shortly. Just got a call and it's APPROVED! Jap AV movie (not porn);D
Guest ottimo Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Hey, how big is your package? More than 10 discs? just got the letter today - my latest 2 packages from DDD also got detained... :(
InnocentBlood Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Hey, how big is your package? More than 10 discs? 2 packages - nine titles each. the size does no matter as before this, 2 packages containing about the same number of titles reached me safe & sound. i guess they are just more vigilant nowadays.
Guest AT Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 The staff said "See you again." :o If you wanna take dat as a sign of stepping up. ;D May should all go at closing time. They sure love it one. :P
HomeMovie Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 2 packages - nine titles each. the size does no matter as before this, 2 packages containing about the same number of titles reached me safe & sound. can't imagine when DDD 20% sales coming soon.. They gonna hold more discs and we have to wait much longer to collect back. BTW those M18 titles will they retain?
HougangKid Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 just got the letter today - my latest 2 packages from DDD also got detained... :( No wonder, I thought I saw your name on their list. Addressed to Jalan K-something, rite? ;D I was there today. 18 titles from DDD in one big box. Does the post office only send big packages to MDA for vetting, cos the MDA staff advise me to order "a bit a bit", to use her own words. My last trip to MDA was 8 dvds in a box. Also saw another dude there with dvds in plastic sleeves, like the "JB" type. Champion!!!
Guest AT Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 I only ordered three and all PG-friendly also kenna detained. So, the big box theory is not accurate. :P I think MDA is only interested in the content of the media and not the media's origin itself. Why I say dat? Well, remember dat one video shop chain was selling pirated discs with BFC's stickers? :o
kennyngi Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Damn...wanted to order a few RA movies from DDD during this 20% promotion....I think I can forget about it :'(......better be safe than sorry ;D
