MC_Hammer Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 September 16, 2005 China Business Recently, TV set producer Amoi pushed out a series of LCD TV set with the seventh generation of LCD, which has a resolution response of 6.22 million pixels, two times that of general LCD. It has broken the limit of definition and became the “king of LCD TV set.” In the mean time, Amoi developed two-tone color processor . Together with the double speed DDR 256 M memory, it has achieved very vivid pictures in the 3 dimensions, which is a real quality breakthrough and has reached the result of “8 times high definition" in this line. Even gossamer can be clearly seen through this LCD. Its outer design is also a breakthrough: the simple but elegant design by Denmark CBD makes it different from other TV sets and embodies the profound oriental culture and occidental fashion.
MC_Hammer Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 During the Amoi LCD Television Development Forum held on March 15, Amoi, one of the leading TV manufacturers in China, made an announcement that would let its rivals sit up and take the notice. Amoi's newly-built LCD TV production base will be put into production in the second half year of 2006, which has a year production capacity of 1 million sets. Lu Renbo, director from the center, says that capacity of the upcoming LCD base will account for 25 percent of the country's total LCD output. Such huge capacity will post great competitive pressures on other Chinese TV players. In the meanwhile, other TV giants such as Hisense, Haier, and Skyworth have not let the grass grow under their feet. They have been also in full sail expanding their LCD manufacturing prowess in a bid to survive the know-down-and- drag-out competition. We can forecast that the year 2006 will be the toughest year for Chinese TV makers. Even after twenty years' development, Chinese TV makers are still unable to produce LCD screens. So it is very important for them to get it from upstream suppliers. Hisense has been relying on LCD screens from South Korea- based LG, TCL from Taiwan-based Chunghwa Picture Tube, and Amoi from Samsung. The problem is these upstream suppliers are also terminal LCD TV makers. Some industry insiders concern that Chinese makers can hardly get the latest LCD screen from the top. As a pioneer in the LCD TV market, Amoi LCD TVs have been widely accepted by European markets. In Norway and Denmark, Amoi is holding respectively 4 percent of market shares. Thus far, Amoi has set up a full-fledged system of logistics, after sales service, distribution, and assembly line in Norway and Germany. Outside of LCD TV, Amoi has been sparing no efforts to push its digital home strategy. In addition, Amoi has been doing researches and development on digital TV set-top boxes and LCD TV set-top boxes. As the production capacity of Chinese LCD television makers growing and prices of LCD components decreasing, flat panel television's profits will accordingly be on the wane, according to some industry experts. And China's LCD television market has returned its head from recession to better days. It is expected that this year the market will have an increase of 500 percent. Amoi was incorporated in May 1997 on the basis of Xiamen Solid Electronics Limited, a Joint Venture which can trace its day back as early as 1981. In June 1997, Amoi became a public company by listing in Shanghai Stock Exchange (SWAP code: 600057). Today, the registered capital of Amoi is CNY358,000,000 (approx. USD43,000,000) and its total asset is CNY1,326,200,000 (approx. USD160,000,000). As a technology driven International electronic corporation, Amoi has stepped into an extensive range of products, including mobile communication, consumer audio and video as well as computer. "Technology for different life and better life" is what Amoi is all about.
chualcsg Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Amoi has done a good job again. Hope that the price will be lower on "Black Series".
Doggie Howser Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 The Elite lacks the memory card/USB reader of the older Advent(?) series. Design looks like the old Sony WEGA LCDs. FWIW, I prefer the shinier Advent look.
Norman_Chan Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Wah ...wonder what will the power usage like .... How is Shinco LCD TV ....can fight with Amoi ?

chualcsg Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Amoi should sell 1920x1080 37" now at $2500 because Prima is selling 1920x1080 37" at $2200-$2500 long ago Go to HDB shop to ask for Prima 1920x1080 42" (below $3000) and Prima 47" (about $3500). Bad points for Prima: - Confused model number - Too many models (old models and news selling at the same time)

Bad points for Prima: - Confused model number - Too many models (old models and news selling at the same time) Audi should sell their A3 2.0TFSI for 110k and not 160k because the Ford Focus ST 2.5T is only 110k. Bad points for Ford - ST is confusing because it is not a "performance" badge - I hate the orange colour.

tsammyc Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Audi should sell their A3 2.0TFSI for 110k and not 160k because the Ford Focus ST 2.5T is only 110k. Last time I checked it was $135K and not selling well.
hifi_enthusiast Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Last time I checked it was $135K and not selling well. Audi in Singapore sells so few units it's hard for them to have competitive pricing. Then their basic models have inferior engines, eg: A4 2.0 base model is the old 130hp engine whereas Passat 2.0 has the 150hp FSI engine. And they are still hawking the A4 1.8T (old engine upchipped to 165hp). Is the Ford Focus ST 2.5T using the Volvo S40 T5 engine?
