mike8462 Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Hi, My subwoofer suddenly have the "popping" whenever there is bass from the movie. And there's a loud "pomp" whenever I switch off the AC supply. I have check the speaker cone, it's was perfect, suspect something wrong internally. Just like to find out from you guys what's the problem, is there a cure beside replacing it with a new one ? Or can recommand any repair service ? Thanks. Rgds Mike
dbchoong Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Most likely the internal amp is in need of servicing. You'll have to send it in for servicing. There's nothing much you can do from the outside. :)
DIRTRUN Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Hiya, Bad luck, bro. Choong's probably right. BTW what sub is it? Cheers. Dirtrun
mike8462 Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 Hi, Just call them (Asia Sound Equipment) up and the charges was like $50(service) + $180-$200+(for the parts, driver). Is it worth ? BTW, mine is the Polk Audio PSW 202 (3 yrs), my first in HT.
DIRTRUN Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Hiya, I guess it is up to you, how much you like the Polk (sub) sound. But (here it comes) for most people here spending 250 bucks denotes some form of upgrade, hehehe ;) Cheers Dirtrun
dbchoong Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Over $200 is a bit too expensive to repair a 10" 100W subwoofer. :)
synthesis1624705793 Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 You may just try to open up the plate amplifier at the back and check visually if any component is burnt or leaked
