velocity1624705768 Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Was browsing around Adelphi when I walked into Tat Chuan (becos' I spotted my mono-stereo Y-adapters on sale there) to buy stuff from my JVC RX-ES1 (you can check out my earlier thread). Lo & behold...I spotted the diminutive TX-L55 sitting pretty on the rack. "This is the Onkyo receiver with digital amp right?" I asked the salesguy excitedly "Arrrh, this set no digital radio...." his reply. "????.....never mind" I said and proceeded to scrutinise the set. Link to the pdf brochure http://www.wickeddigital.com.au/product_pdf.php?productid=16364 The set is very similar to the XR25 - 6.1, Binding posts only for the mains and springclips for the rest of the speakers. Power output is only about 60watts. Lookswise, I think it beats the Panny and JVC but that is personal. What is unique tho' is that the crossover starts from 60hz all the way to 150hz whereas the XR25 lowest is 100hz. They also have this cinema filter but don't know much abt it. Pricing was $780 :o but out of curiosity, I asked the salesguy for his best price.......$680. If you are looking for a digital amp with 220v and local warranty and can maybe bargain down this price, this may not be a bad bet considering the XR55 (S$480) + transformer ($120) is already close to $600. Not many reviews on this baby so not too sure about sound quality. As I was rushing back to work, did not (& paiseh to ask since no intention of buying) audition the set. Just for the info of all the digital converts here.....
SiriuslyCold Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 we did mention this unit before iirc. (here) it's 1) been superceded in the US by the TX-LR552 and more painfully 2) eventually sold for US$99.00 the LR552 owner's link on AVS forum
velocity1624705768 Posted June 2, 2006 Author Posted June 2, 2006 According to the Onkyo website, it still list this as the current model in Asia together with the LR552 in US. Looking at the specs, think these are equivalent models but just diffferent model names.
