htfreak Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Just read that a PAL version of the Slingbox has been launched in the UK for 180 pounds. Integrated into it is a DVB-T receiver as well. That got me wondering who else here will be keen to invest in such a device. It would be interesting to see if it works with the Mediacorp or Starhub HD trial set-tops as well.
ridz Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Does anyone has any idea whether the US slingbox can be used in Singapore? Saw in ComUsa for US$199 exclude tax.
SiriuslyCold Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 there was some postings on the US slingbox - unfortunately it was in the General section and thatgets auto cleared after some time. but some people apparently are using it locally
ridz Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 there was some postings on the US slingbox -...... using it locally Local user any comment or review on this box. Was contemplating of getting one to act as an additional set top box ;D ;D.
TYF Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I'm one of the user of Slingbox. ;D Some comments: a. This box is simple to setup. No thick manuals. Only 1 BIG piece of paper with lots of pics that comes with the box. b. For Starhub user, you might struggle initially with the IR codes as all the pre-loaded IR codes that comes with the SlingPlayer. Here's the instruction to setup the IR codes for Starhub digital box. http://www.slingcommunity.com/forum/thread/10302/?page=2& I've tried this with the Starhub HD setup box. It works also. If you need the bin file, I can send to u seperately. c. As for the pic: what can I say. It's been compressed before sending over the net. So don't expect fantastic pic quality. All I can say is: it's watchable but gives u the freedom to watch anywhere as long as u can connect to the web. I called this gadget : "TV Anywhere" d. I've also tested the mobile version of the SlingPlayer using my wife's Dopod. Cool.
