Setup of cable box, TV and HTS

Sorry if this sounds amatuer. Is it possible to (i) connect the cable box to the HTS (simple one with just one dvd player) and from the HTS to the TV or (ii)  do I have to separately connect the HTS to TV and cable box to TV?

 

For (i), I suppose I have to connect the RCA cable from the cable box to the AV in of the DVD player, and from the component video out (PR, PB, Y) of the DVD player to the component input of the TV? What kind of cable do I buy to connect from the DVD player to the TV?

I think u need to explain more about the kinds of ports your HTS has. Not sure if yours can output composite video thru component via your HTS...
