Norman_Chan Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Get the Nachus at S$179 at BIG - Harbour Front ....
W Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Get the Nachus at S$179 at BIG - Harbour Front .... hows the PQ for the Nachus over HDMI ?
zapp1624705742 Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 now i also headache - to spend 179 for a nachus or 500 for a Denon 1920...not sure if the nachus PQ is good enough for HDMI...,
avfan Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 I'm having the same dilemma. Not sure whether to buy Denon 1920 or Oppo 971H. Personally prefer 971H but the shipping cost (>S$90) really puts me off. Not sure whether 1920 image quality is as good as 971H. Any comments? Was quoted by KEC $475 for 1920. Read another thread that can get $450. Where can I get this price?
xbfloater Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Hi all, Just to share with you guys on my weekend experience with the Nachus 3188 DVDP. I've just gotten it at Big over the weekend. It scales & playbacks on my projector via component video output OK but when I connect it to my 10m DVI cable via a HDMI adapter, the video signal cannot even source to my projector...! =( Does anyone have this issue with longish DVI/HDMI cables? If yes, any solutions/ideas on this issue... So, you guys have to be extra careful with getting cheap DVDPs, especially with HDMI, I guess... But I'm not sure how else can we test this out before forking out cash, other than borrowing it from friends/forumers... Cheers, xbfloater

Cheers, xbfloater Try switch on your projector first than follow by the dvd player ....my problem was that when I switch on the dvd player first , my lcd tv detect it as DVI connection (no audio and only picture) but when I switch on my lcd first follow by the dvd player ...the lcd detect the connection as hdmi connection (both audio and picture came through) ....
xbfloater Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Hi darthmax & Norman, Thanks so much for all the advices! Really appreciate it... Unfortunately, I've never connected to both video output types at the same time, except maybe for the very 1st time... So, this is not one of the reasons. Also, I've tried turning on DVDP 1st follows by projector & vice versa but it still doesn't work... Moreover, I just want to stream video signal only to my projector. Streaming audio signal to my AV receiver via digital coxial is OK. That means I can hear the surround sound but the projector just throws me the brand logo screen... =( BTW, it works at the showroom with the same projector model but with a shorter & better quality HDMI cable, so at least the DVDP's HDMI output socket is OK. Now, the only worry is either the cable is too long for the digital video signal or the player's HDMI output signal is too weak to stream thru the 10m length... Either way, I'll be screwed becos it means more false ceiling hackings or more cash outlays... Anyone else has similar issues with this brand's DVDP? But keeping fingers crossed that the installation guy can resolve the issue this evening... Sigh... Thanks again for all the advices & info shared, guys! Cheers, xbfloater
xbfloater Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Hi all, Just want to close my posting in this thread... =) As mentioned in the other thread, my video sourcing via HDMI/DVI has been resolved. It's due to the fact that one of the video signal pins has been bent in... What a relief! Happy HDing, all! Cheers, xbfloater
htfreak Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Here's one more choice. Oppo has a new DV-970HD player that features HDMI output instead of the earlier version with DVI output. It now comes equipped with a USB & 4-in-1 card reader and HDMI cable going for US$149.
