hyper1624705763 Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 "Employing Zoran's new, state-of-the-art Vaddis 888s processing engine, ARCAM's all-new DV137 DVD Player ($1999 MSRP) is the most technically-advanced, best performing DVD Player available today! The 888s chipset supports all the previous formats plus SACD. The DV137 has a built in ABT scaler which not only upsamples standard DVDs to 1080p but does so with a quality that puts others to shame. (It is selectable for 720p/1080i, as well). The unit is completely chroma bug free and it sports an on board video set up wizard to help simplify the fine tuning of the display device. ARCAM's first universal-format player is also the best-sounding player available at any price. The DV137 will be available next month, which gives ARCAM dealers time to plan their merchandising efforts and place demonstrator orders." Question for the gurus here: 1. Is it true that this player upscale to 1080i? 2. If my panel is 1080i, the normal dvd format of 480p could be upscled to 1080i? 3. Id it upscale to 1080i, what is the impact on the pix... does it becomes clearer or what? Not too bad a product, plays SACD, DVD audio plus HDMI input. But if price is sub 2k, I will consider to buy this to replace my dvd player & CDP. ;D
SiriuslyCold Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 where did you get the quote from, and if you quoted from there, is there any reason to doubt them? "only upsamples standard DVDs to 1080p but does so with a quality that puts others to shame. How come there is no interest in Arcam DVD players in Singapore? It is highly reviewed but not many buyers ???

I used to own a DV-88 dvd players. Excellent picture quality even without any progressive scan and audio is as good as a mid range cd players.

Maybe they should let KEC carry Arcam as well.... there will be mass market appeal then. I think Arcam quota may be too low so no need chiong to retain distributorship.
