Any Red/White/Yellow RCA cables can do the job of the Component Video though PQ not as good. Just ensure matching at both ends (ie red/blue/green). Use Belden 1694A cables for Component Video cables, cheap and good.

Hi,thanks for the advice.Anyway, how's the Daiyo cables at Best compare to Belden?
kMan1624705733 Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Hi,thanks for the advice.Anyway, how's the Daiyo cables at Best compare to Belden? Have not used Daiyo, so can't comment. For component video cables, 75ohm coaxial type of cables are preferred for less video signal degradation.
xfiles_wolvie Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Hi, Need to enquire. since there is hdmi, dvi, do we still ned component cables in the near future?

Used Daiyo... belden is better, would work out to 60 bucks for a 2 meter set of 3 component cables with canare connectors from LHS.. they would terminate for you. If budget permits and you are a videophile, get the Belden 7731 cables.. the quality is quite noticeable esp. for high rez content.
Regit Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Have tried the video component those with RGB type ...PQ same as composite (yellow plug), can't see the different. As for HDMI and DVI not all DVD got these type of connection.
armoury Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Have tried the video component those with RGB type ...PQ same as composite (yellow plug), can't see the different. As for HDMI and DVI not all DVD got these type of connection. That's unusual: when I first used component on my old 29" Sony Wega, I noticed the improvement straightaway. Although obviously if you have a smaller TV, you might not see the difference; also if you're using the plain-old freebie cables given away with most DVD players. Need to enquire. since there is hdmi, dvi, do we still ned component cables in the near future? Theoretically, no, since both HDMI and DVI do the same job of carrying video signals from the source to the display. Personally, I still connect my DVD to my plasma via both HDMI and component, because for some strange reason when in HDMI mode, the plasma's audio analog output is completely disabled, and I need it for my wireless headphones (if I'm using them), and I'd rather not have to switch on the receiver just to plug the headphones into it. (So when I watch with headphones, I have to disable HDMI and accept the lower PQ of component.)
xfiles_wolvie Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 oic...thanks armoury. i just bought daiyo component cables at $28. kinda cheap for this connections. plug inand watch kung fu hustle. not much diff leh. or i cant notice. or isit the cable issue? hehe
Norman_Chan Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 If you are using a 29" and below CRT TV ...usually you will not see much differences but anything above 29" CRT TV , will will see the differences ...even on a LCD 20" TV the differences also can be seen. So this will depend what display you are having ....
xfiles_wolvie Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 i m using 32"lcd tv. but cant see difference. hmmm. weird.
Norman_Chan Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Depend on whether you are casual or serious viewer ....sometime the differences are quite difficult to spot unless someone view with you and pointed out to you ...once pointed out to you than you will be more alert on what can be see between connecting by Video Component or S-Video or single yellow RCA or HDMI cables ... In the initial I also cannot see the differences until someone pointed the differences and my expectation started to change ....
xfiles_wolvie Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 oic. heheh thanks. then i must keep looking out for the difference liao. must watch b4 and after. suddenly had a tot. i plug in the component cables and the composite video cables together at the same time, then since component is 1 channel on my tv, and composite is on another channel on my tv, i put in the KFH DVD, would both channels be shown together concurrently? so i can just switch channels to see the quality difference? does that work?
synthesis1624705793 Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 That should work. With CRT TV, using component cable let you watch DVD in progressive mode, which is tremendous improvement compared to composite cable, which shows interlace. This is quite noticeable on 29" TV or bigger. At this size, the difference between progressive and interlace is more prominent compared to the difference between composite and component both showing interlace. Meanwhile, LCD TV is progressive by default, so the difference between composite and component may not be as significant.
xfiles_wolvie Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 oh so must be crt then can easily tell the difference. icic..ok i will try both cables. hehe
