Hi,

HK R3 is much much better than SGP R3. For those who are interested, LF has been bringing in lots of HK R3 titles, including most, if not all of Remastered Series titles too and these are of top notch quality.

Also to note, if you are at LF, take note the bargain section ($12.90) and look out for Panorama Distribution. This is a HK company producing some very good PQ and SQ and selling at only $12.90. My Samsung 50" DLP TV is extremely sensitive to PQ, hence and Panorama HK does not fail in all titles I have bought thus far. I have some of their classic titles like Rambo I-III with DTS, and newer titles like Amativille Horror 2005, Brother's Grimme, Lost in Translation and all are of exceptional PQ and SQ, with most titles coming in with DTS too. Last but not least, HK R3 ensures ZERO cencorship.

Cheers

R1 usually better than R3 & R6 in term of PQ... (but not always)

R3, if a title is available in R6 or R1, why go for R3??

Try King Kong R6, it's better than R3 for sure...

Mandarin chicken rice now S$19.5 !!

probably the most expensive chicken rice in Asia.

Hi,

I have warned a few times to be weary of R6 titles. R6 titles may be low pricing, and it will suit customers who fufills the following conditions:

1. Chinese only subtitles for most DVD, including King Kong DVD-9 which I had just read from other sites. Edit: seems like some sites say King Kong can turn off Chinese whiel some says cannot...

2. More than 50% of R6 titles have embedded Chinese subtitles that CANNOT be turned OFF.

3. PQ and SQ of many R6 titles available in SGP are of low quality as compared to R1 or HK R3. I wasted $12.90 purchasing 2046 R6 when it was first released here. If you watch movies in Cinema locally, think of the R6 2046 PQ as the same quality of the Anti-Piracy advert in cinema with that very bad "Chronicles of Narnia" shots! That is really how bad some of these R6 titles are.

4. Local R3 and R6 still have issues with censorship, meaning you will not know whether a title is censored until you purchase and watch it. R1 and HK R3 are still the safest bet when comes to uncensorsed DVDs.

5. Did I mention Aspect Ratio? Many of R6 titles sold in Singapore (I have checked through LF at least) comes with only 4x3 aspect ratio.

So if the above 5 are of no concern to you, then purchasing R6 titles will be a good choice. Else you will be like me, once bitten twice shy, especially after 2046 and a couple others which I threw them all into the dustbin, a complete waste of my hard earned $$$ :(

For KK R6 was selling S$14 plus ...very tempting ...ha..ha...

It's only 25 Yuan or less than S$5 in mainland china.

you see more in R6 than R3 due to an aspect ratio mistake in R3 King Kong.

King Kong R6 comes with English and chinese subtitles

I was in SG two weeks ago and didn't see any R6 King Kong available.

Video Van - previous agent for Buena Vista disney, touchstone etc.  currently no news as to what they do

Scorpio East - current agent for Buena Vista etc.,  HKTVB and most of the chinese Movies

Berjaya HVN - agent for universal, dreamworks

Origin Musictronic Ent - colombia-tristar, sony

also

Alliance - WB, New Line fox etc.

Comstar -  Various titles

Innoform Media - various titles including  C.S.I

Most of the R3 are I believe are made locally from U.S. masters which the  Quality largely depends on

If it is made from the same master as the R1 then there will not be any difference
