raysusan Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 what are the collections u have from him? what is the best animation that u like the best? maybe we can share it there :) so far i have.... the collection pack by Anime Cartoon(multi-region) which is up to date until mononoke (Region1) princess mononoke by miramax spirited away by walt disney my neighbour totoro by walt disney howl's moving castle by walt disney nausicaa by walt disney grave of the dragonfiles(multi-region) by central park media
Jose Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Me!!! Me!!! I have all of movies that are officially released on HK Region 3 dvds (except Grave of the Fireflies R1 and Spirited Away SG R3). The HK Region 3 are selling for about SG$30 in HK but are retailing at $39.90 at LaserFlair in SG. Still missing a few that are released on Japan Region 2 only. There have been recent Region 1 releases. But I still bought HK Region 3 because I prefer the additional track to be cantonese instead of English. There has also been some controversy by purists over the partially re-scored soundtrack for the English dubs. You can get more information on his animations at http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/films/
raysusan Posted April 24, 2006 Author Posted April 24, 2006 i had all the collection too but i dont really have a R3 one i had a so call the complete collection pack by Anime Cartoon(MC) which is up to date till mononoke then i bought R1 mononoke by miramax, spirited away, totoro and howl's moving castle by disney a MC grave of the dragonfiles by central park media and a MC the cat returns i prefer to heard them in english because i dont understand japansese(-_-!) may looking forward to get more R1 collection by disney i simply also love their music soundtracks by joe hisaishi
Jose Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Is there such a collection? To my knowledge, the only official complete boxset are the IVL Region 3 DVD and VCDs (http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-c/section-anime/pid-1003739698/). All the other box sets (4 or 6 dvds with 12 movies) are bootlegs. Well, I watched them in Japanese but it's fun to listen to the cantonese soundtrack sometimes. i had all the collection too but i dont really have a R3 one i had a so call the complete collection pack by Anime Cartoon(MC) which is up to date till mononoke then i bought R1 mononoke, spirited away, totoro and howl's moving castle by disney and a MC grave of the dragonfiles by central park media i prefer to heard them in english because i dont understand japansese(-_-!) may looking forward to get more R1 collection by disney i simply also love their music soundtracks by joe hisaishi

[qoute]We have NOT licensed to anyone called Anime Cartoon in Hong Kong, and these sets must be pirated. We have a reputable licensee in Hong Kong who would certainly not be involved in this.[/qoute] http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/ started to hate the collection pack......
dream88sg Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I am also his fan. I have spirited away(R1). My Neighbor Totoro(Jap R6) and Princess Mononoke(R1) Only yesterday (R6). ... My fav are Spirited away and My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke. Howl's moving castle was a bit of a letdown. Maybe too high expectation of it. My fav in order of prefenence 1) Spirited away 2) My Neighbor Totoro 3) Princess Mononoke 4) valley of the wind(but sound not so good if not will have a higher rating) 5) Porco Rosso 6) Howl's moving castle 7) Kiki the delivery service 8) Laputa Castle in the Air 9) Cat Return 10) Only yesterday

raysusan Posted April 24, 2006 Author Posted April 24, 2006 actually not all the show from studio ghibli is 100% done by Miyazaki
Jose Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 The website I stated has pretty detailed information. Can't blame the shops for selling the bootleg sets. They are quite clueless what they're selling. Most of these people only treat it as a job to earn $$$.

Most of these people only treat it as a job to earn $$$. yeah we saw before in pasar malam (the store has a shop front in chinatown) selling boxsets a light blue one and a white colour one. very pro and original looking, but then coz I've not heard nor seen anyone refer to it before online, figured it's probably very 'good' bootleg... even when I ask the people selling it, they say it's 'real' (and think they really think it IS original!) have u guys seen it before? pst
raysusan Posted April 24, 2006 Author Posted April 24, 2006 i will post a photo of it when i collect my digital camera today it looks nice but i really never though that it is not licenced when i bought it i bought it in a DVD store in a big shopping centre long ago

Jose Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Are u referring to this? I believe there are R6 dvds for these older cartoons. But it's 4:3 and sometimes with chinese language or subtitles only. anyone here seen this show before? a anime at 1978

raysusan Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 does any one here knows what is the purpose for the storyboard in disc 2 for? the whole movie is in B/W drawing it is all in walt disney release
Jose Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Disc Station is selling a new version of the Bootleg. Now it's divided into Archive Part 1 and Part 2 and each part selling for $70 each!!! From the number of discs, it looks like 1 dvd is allocated to 1 movie for the new set.
Jose Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 For some reason, they think people are interested in the storyboards. I think most people aren't. These storyboards are carried over from the original JP R2 and HK R3 releases. does any one here knows what is the purpose for the storyboard in disc 2 for? the whole movie is in B/W drawing it is all in walt disney release
raysusan Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 how about the soundtracks? anyone here collect the full series of joe hisaishi music works for all animation by miyazaki?

As long as quality good, price cheap, licensing doesn't bother me ;). Never got these sets cos I don't know if there's English subtitles (all the text on the cover is in Chinese). But I'd still rather get the R1 versions in English except they're quite pricey. Waiting for lobang coming in from US can get through him for free delivery from Amazon.
