ivancen Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 hi, I have one front speaker 0.75 foot from side wall while the other is 3.5 feet away from the other side wall. No way i can shift the distance with respect to the side walls. luckily space of both to rear wall is 3 ft. I noticed that the soundstage can extend quite well beyond the further speaker (left side) but it hardly, if ever, extends beyond the nearer one (right side). I tried putting pillows bet the near speaker and wall and i tot it seem to extend a little better (dunno is it psycological). Now if i were to do room treatment on the wall, wat should i do? ecophon slabs or wood strips or ecophon saw into strips and velcro to wall? thaks in advanced.
Desperado Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 You might want to check with Sky Audio, they recently have room treatment stuff which can do wonders....
ivancen Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 thanks... but i would like to understand what i need before going down... lese they smoke me also i dun know. Does anyone know of any theory for room treatment that works for my case?
benzx Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 ivan, my speaker positioning is similar. With the left spker nearer to wall. And the nearer 'wall' is actually my full height window. So, I can only use curtains to help. Wife's gonna kill me if I paste anything on the glass. :(
avo1624705802 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 If you want a better sense of space, I believe you need more diffusion than absorption for the speaker nearer the wall. Perhaps to balance out the two speakers try some absorption at the 1st reflection point for the speaker further away from the wall. Try searching the net for article on small room acoustics, I believe there is a few good ones. Good luck. :)
ivancen Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 thanks for the replies so far. But avo, u were saying absorb 1st reflection at further speaker's wall? Or do u really mean absorb from the wall where ther nearer speaker is?
avo1624705802 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 To clarify, difussion for speaker nearer wall. Absorption for speaker further from wall.
media2368 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 So just place diffusor at the 1st reflection if the front wall is nearer? And the Ceiling is Diffusor? Can anyone else confirm this? ???
2100 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Steve (Sky Audio) won't smoke you one lar.....just go ahead and listen/buy.
ivancen Posted April 18, 2006 Author Posted April 18, 2006 ic... if diffuser then perhaps i shall try to consult joamonte about his custom made diffuser thing. Cos at the moment I can only treat nearer wall and corner, hear the effect first then proceed. Thanks for the ideas.

Thanks. :)
