Xi0625 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Hi guys, I am considering to buy panny XR 55 for my HT usage. All along my setup is using SI T amp for the stereo purpose, I am wondering should I totally replace the Sonic Impact T-amp with the panny? Or the T amp is actually better than the panny in stereo aspect? Any guys here compare them before?
dbchoong Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I have both. The SI is good but it is limited by the small 15W/ch power. For a small stereo setup, it is very good. For HT, the Panny is the better choice. My Panny drives my Def Tech floorstanders in the living room easily, but the SI struggles with these speakers. It won't be easy to buy the XR55 - it seems to be sold out everywhere. The new XR57 should be out soon. :)
Xi0625 Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 My SI seems no problem in handling my MA bronze 2... Actually I intend to combine both my stereo and HT setup and use the bronze 2 as main speaker of the system. That's why stereo performance of panny is my concern.... Thanks db for the comments? Did you compare their stereo performance before? Is your Panny XR as good as(if not better) T amp in stereo aspect? It is so sad to hear panny out of stock everywhere, anyway, I can wait, no urgent need. Just wondering when the XR 57 will be out.... and more importantly, at what price....
SiriuslyCold Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 AVWatch has it out on 15/04 (today!) in Japan MSRP in US will be $399 i think which will be down to ~$300 at retail

Spunky Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 1st u must find the tripath chip, then it's possible but it's not going to be a easy task since it's a 30-odd pins SMT device ;)
