Gideon Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Users of the SMS-1, please provide comments on its useability in terms of setup whether it is easy, not-so easy or difficult; results of the setup in terms % difference in perceived improvement and the type of sub you are using. Intend to purchase one if it is good. Regards, Gideon :) ------------------------------- SMS-1 The SMS-1, featuring Velodyne's revolutionary Digital Drive room correction software, provides all the tools you'll need to adapt ANY subwoofer to the anomalies of your room. Gideon Posted April 13, 2006 Author Posted April 13, 2006 Hi Jason, Going to add aother M&K MX-350 SFX Push-Pull SuperFast Deep Bass THX ULTRA Powered Subwoofer. Hopefully, this monstor will add more headroom. ;D
oliverlim Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Well...looks like I have to say something. It sure is easy to setup as compared to using the BFD. Nothing that more practice wont help :p The main thing is weather you need the features of hte SMS-1 as you will be paying a lot more for it compared to the BFD. I wanted it as I wanted to have full different Phase adjustments for HT and music setup. I also wanted to have different crossover settings for stereo and HT which this unit allows. I basically run my stereo setup full range with the Subs being added to about 35hz to help my mains on the 35hz and below. It also allows adjustment to the crossover slopes which help alot if you are not using THX speakers for a smoother FR at the crossover stage. the other think I like about it was that it has 6 slots of memory of which can be remotely controlled. Helped with a setup that can auto switch modes as my wife also watches TV and DVDs. So thats what you have to bass it on. Oh ya, the subsonic filter is currently allowed to be set at 15hz minimum at the moment. But at 15hz with a 6db per octave curve, it is at -3db at 15hz and -9db at about 7hz. Not many subs or setup has any issues with that but Jason defintely has :p The new firmware which allows subsonic to be totally defeated is due for release after somemore testing. Oliver
