Both technology got pros and cons.

Just find one that you like the sound of. :)

The MO for glass optical is a good deal if you don't plan spending more than $100.

Sas, r u asking becos of Dbchoong's Glass Toslinks MO? Perhaps anyone who have used this cable can share theiir comments? I'm interested too.

Personally, have only compared Daiyo's optical vs Audioquest coaxial many years back. (silver color, cant remember model). The coaxial has more details and "sweeter" upper frequency while the optical seems faster & sharper higher frequency. I prefer the coaxial outright when listening to CD (fm DVD player) but when it comes to movies, slight preference for the optical intially. After a couple of weeks, find the optical causing some kind of listening fatigue so just used the coaxial.

I am using the glass toslink cable and it sounds better than Belden 89259 in my system (DVD player to Receiver).

Daiyo optical is a total joke, don't waste money on that piece of crap (btw, I have two pcs of the craps).

Care to elaborate more on the glass toslink vs 89259? I'm looking around for a "fast" cable with good bass control...

kzone if you want you can borrow my 1m glass optical for testing. Not using it for the moment. :)

The glass optical is certainly quite fast. Not very detailed, but good value for money.

Hi, did some late night listening to compare the optical & coaxial cable. Dont have a proper HT setup yet, so listened to a CDP connected to an AVR. This is my first time listening to this makeshift combo.

Coaxial : Audioquest Cinemaquest

Optical : Glass Toslink (coutesy of Quest)

Constants

CDP : Marantz Cd-63 (modded)

AVR : Yamaha V595A

Speakers : Triangle Comete

SC : YBA Diamond Biwire

Song : Jacintha's Moon River in the Autumn Leaves album

Findings

The optical has greater detail. I can hear more breathing sounds & the initial touch when the fingers touch the piano keys. It is also more forward than the coaxial. With the coaxial, Jacintha seems to be behind the CDP but with the optical, she has taken a couple of steps forward. The optical also sounds faster & more airy. But the problem is that soundstage is very narrow. Everything seems to be coming between the speakers. The coaxial has a darker, more relaxed sound and wider soundstage.

Its too late at night to try some drums & percussions....
