All-in-one HT system

Featured Replies

hi,

any suggestion on an all-in-one surround sound (possible?) speaker/HT system mainly for TV/DVD listening? all-in-one for convenience and not having to route satellite speakers/wires all over the living room. i am actually thinking of the ipod hi-fi but input options are limited with only one digital in.

budget is around S$1000.

look in Planet Home Theatre

dont quite understand all-in-one, u mean 3.1 system where the surround is being reproduced just by 3 speakers?

Yamaha got i model, panel speaker, just add subwoofer, very neat.  but dont know if its $1K.

the yamaha ysp-1 is exactly what i had in mind!

did a google on it and the reviews are generally favorable, considering its all-in-one surround sound capability. has anyone bought it/tried it out in sg? how much?

The Yamaha YSP-1 can be auditioned at KEC. Price not very sure, but I think could be a lot more than your $1k budget.

There's an older model (think YSP-800) that goes for about $1.3k or so.

;D

YSP-1 is the older model.

The latest is the YSP-800 (SRP S$1399) and YSP-1000 (SRP S$1999) with companion subwoofer YST-FSW100 (SRP S$299).

I have the YSP-1000 along with the YST-FSW100. Seriously, you need a room with minimum obstacles. A square room would be perfect. Ideally to be placed in the centre. I'm having issues with the virtual surround sound because of placement and obstacle. Minimum listening distance is 2 metre and you need a metre or more behind you. If you have anything less, I won't recommend this sound projector speaker.

but friend, got to study yr room layout, if u look carefully the system uses the side walls to "bounce" sound off, if u got an irregular room, it may not work that well.

IMHO, if u want to do 5.1 or 7.1 its still best to either mount the surround or hv them on stand, the wires run can be "hidden" somehow.

sigh, my room is as odd-shaped as they come. but the idea of an all-in-one, pack-and-go-when-you-move surround sound system is very attractive...

folks, any more good suggestion? is there a kinda compromised virtual surround sound system that uses 3.1 to produce 5.1/7.1 sound? at least i don't have to worry about hiding the wires of the 2 rear speakers.

Yamaha Ysp-1, I think the model is called, one speaker solution but not cheap lo
