Marty1624705825 Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I have a Pioneer VSXD814 AV receiver but am using a generic DVD player (also coincidentally Pioneer) and am thinking of getting a dedicated CD player. Can anybody advise on what sort of experience they have had with these 2 players? I think the Marantz CD7300 is already on its way out ...limited stocks left but much cheaper than the Cambridge Audio. How about the NAD C521BEE price wise ? For interconnects any recommendations ? Thanks very much
bolts1624705732 Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I haven't heard the Marantz. So, can't comment. I have the CA 640 V2 though. Silver color. It can pull up all kinds of details from the CD. A tad on the warm side. The imaging is very good, I think maybe due to the Dual DAC(this kind of configuration usually found on higher-end players). I can pick out where the instruments are located. Go and have a listen to it before you decide.
Marty1624705825 Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 Is Alpha audio the only place selliing Cambridge Audio ? Did you get yours there ? I listen mostly to Jazz (all genre including cuban), Chinese/Canto pop and to a lesser extent modern pop rock. But budget is limited so i can only get the CDP but not a stereo amp.. have to press my AVR into service.
bolts1624705732 Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 If budget is constraint, consider a Sonic Impact T-amp (less than $100, including a regulated power supply). I am using this amp to drive a pair of Monitor Audio Silver RS1.
benzx Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I havent had the chance to listen to the 640c v2. Actually even for the original 640c I only had brief encounters, cant say proper audition. As for the Marantzs... I've compared the 7300 with 6000ose le and IMHO, the 6000ose sounded better. The only 'winning' point about the 7300 is that its made in japan (if that affects you). :)
leslens Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 the marantz 6000ose le is hopeless it is so fussy it probably reads 2 cds out of 5!! forget ur cdrws i have the 6000osele and 7300 its definately a step up in that order sonically as well
hifiluv Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 How about the NAD C521BEE price wise ? Hi i owned 3 NADs, the current is a 2nd hand C521, basic model but still kicking ass. go for the NAD C542, think its going for $600+, its one the best model that i had to date. no pbm with CDRWs or HDCD. sound is fast and punchy. also own a basic Marantz CD5400, its sweet sound but not fast / detail enough for my liking. it sort of flow over the sound and bring it out to you... abit too laid back for my liking. :)
