desray Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Hi guys, after getting the Console from Starhub a few weeks ago...I have decided to give a review of my own on this Gaming Console which couple as a Home Entertainment Media PC for streaming of media... If you have queries on the following: 1) How to connect to X-Box Live? 2) How to set up Windows Media Connect 2.0 to stream medias from your PC to the Console? 3) What's a Microsoft Media Center 2005 and what does it do? What type of file formats can be streamed via the WMC? 4) How's the performance of the Wireless Network Adaptor by X-Box? Able to stream Hi-Def materials smoothly? 5) What's the main difference between CORE and PREMIUM SYSTEMS? 6) The Pros and Cons of X-Box 360 Console... Then you have to read the review to find out for yourselves :) :D Read the review here: http://www.hubc.org.sg/temp/xbox_360/xbox_360_review.htm and judge for yourself whether to jump on the wagon now to get an X-Box 360 or put off till a later date or wait for PlayStation 3 instead... :) You be your own judge after reading the review.
Phil1624705739 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Having fun? Wait till you try out multiplayer sessions. I was playing with my colleagues via an Epson EMP-TW100 back in the Lab. 2 wireless and 2 wired controllers. Should be getting Fight Night, Ridge Racer and Ghost Recon soon.. Phil

wwyjoe Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 here dude: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/xbox360/powerplay.htm oh, and check out GRAW when u're done with COD2...shiok man!
Doggie Howser Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Looks like you got the Core set. Sure hope you got the HD cables to hook up to yr projector man!! It's gorgeous in 720p or 1080i. Also, a minor correction on the minuses: You can actually hook the USB wired controllers to all 3 USB ports. Saw some guys also managed to use a USB hub to hook up 4 controllers (max supported on the X360) But you shd really try the wireless one. I feel the added weight of the battery feels just right.

Yes...you're right...its 3 not 2 :) Yes...I will certainly try the GRAW soon...currently out of stock in most retailers.

As a matter of fact, I already bought the cable on the very day I collected my Core Set from Challenger Store :P You're right to say that its a MUST-HAVE for all Projector users if you intend to play on large screen. The wireless ones slightly expensive...but I really dun see the need to purchase one...as my viewing distance allowed me to hold the wired S-Controller comfortably at hand with at least a metre plus to spare for movement around.
zapp1624705742 Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I also got my set along with a 3rd party component cable - tested it on my Dell 2405FPW in HD :p Will try installing it outside in my living room as i just installed my TW600 :p 720p gaming goodness coming up.
wind30 Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 anyone thinking of selling their spare composite cable after getting the HD cable? I thinking of getting a spare cable so I can move my 360 easily to my bedroom. sms 91510339 You guys like playing on projector meh? I think not very good for my projector as I play too often. Turn off/ turn on.

Phil Hey Phil, are you working for Microsoft? How come got xbox360 in your working lab? Care to share roughly how much is your monthly salary? 4 digits or 5 digits or almost half of 6 digits? ;D Oh another thing: regarding the SVS woofer, is your home theater room as shown in your sig located inside an apartment or landed property? Will the vibration noise tend to spread to neighbours up/downstairs? Or did you place the woofer on a carpet to diffuse the bass?

zapp1624705742 Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 LCD pj will have burn in?? I thot its same concept as LCD monitors :p Meh i tested it today with the TW600 @ 1080i OMG if this is the direction of gaming...i cant imagine a 1080p image lol
basspundit Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Hah but the higher the res the higher the frame-rate that must be maintained to preserve the illusion of smoothness, some psycho-optical thingie i read somewhere. Dang will those evil corporations never stop draining our pockets?!!! LCD pj will have burn in?? I thot its same concept as LCD monitors :p Meh i tested it today with the TW600 @ 1080i OMG if this is the direction of gaming...i cant imagine a 1080p image lol
htfreak Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 LCD pj will have burn in?? I thot its same concept as LCD monitors :p Meh i tested it today with the TW600 @ 1080i OMG if this is the direction of gaming...i cant imagine a 1080p image lol Actually since your TW600 native resolution is 720p, it is recommended to set your 360 to output at 720p instead of 1080i. It has been mentioned in some review articles that the 360 may not output natively at 1920x1080 but merely scales the image from 960x540 resolution instead. As a result, some has noticed that the quality at 1080i is worse off than 720p. This conclusion was partly supported by the fact that if one were to use the MS VGA cable option, the max resolution you can select is only 1360x768.
zapp1624705742 Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I have compared 720p and 1080i and found that the 1080i mode is more crisp than the 720p...however, i was not impressed by DVD output from the 360 think my normal 480p player is better... so anyone can help answer if LCD PJs will get pixel burn if play games too long?

I compared the 360 with my momitsu and they performed similarly. But I'm using a 480p SP4805 of course. Phil
