ManYou Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Hi, Am thinking of getting one of this. Is this available in Singapore? If not, am going to do a MO for it. :) Probably one of the cheapest 1080p Upscaling HD DVD player with these features. More importantly, it is also a "non-copy-protected (HDCP)" DVD player ! This is rare/unheard of (correct me if I'm wrong) in Singapore retail shops. And at only US199, I think it's a bargain ! ;D These are just some of the features taken from their website: - HDCP is not required for playing copyright DVD title in high definition mode. - Support 1080P( 1080 Progressive Scan), 1080i, 720P, 576P and 480P output, VGA output support 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024 - System contains one 32bit Risc CPU, one 24bit video processing CPU and one 24 bit RISC audio processing CPU. Total power equal to 1Ghz Pentium CPU. - Fast 16bit 149Mhz Video DAC and 192 kHz 24 Bit Audio DAC ( 32 bit/133Mhz Audio DSP). - Smart update function ( firmware upgradeable ) Website - https://www.neodigits.com/new/body/products/HVD2085/specs.asp Review - http://www.projectorcentral.com/neodigit_hvd2085.htm "At its advertised price of $225, the NeoDigits NeuNeo HVD2085 is a bargain. With the current push toward copy protection, you might consider a non-copy-protected 1080i DVD player before they go the way of the dodo bird."

This set is used to demo plasma TVs in Best Denki. I bought it for $200/- with free HDMI cable provided from Everjoint in AMK Ave 4. This set is friendly, I tried it with D9. I play in 780p mode. I assume HDCD copy protection is disabled. Only thing is it is made in China. You may want to try Samsung HD850. You can hack the HDCD copy protection with the remote control.
Doggie Howser Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 It's just as important to get a good deinterlacing/scaling chipset. Not just specs: 1080p. Case in point: I recently got a HD MediaBox to test out 1080p on my 1080p native LCDTV. Turns out my TV does a better job of deinterlacing/scaling 1080i to 1080p than the HD MediaBox's sigma chipset.

neji_kun Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Hi chualcsg, It would be good if you could list down the technical specs here....e.g. able to upconvert using component cable. And is it possible to ask shinco to bring in the product early ?
chualcsg Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 EVD-VMD is much better than EVD. You can also search more info in section "Planet TV & Projector" and HWZ section " Home Theatre & Audiophiles SiG " No harm sending Email to Siinco. Actually I had sent email to both Shinco and NMD.
