xrinfile Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Currently, i'm in process of renovating my new house. Since I have no dedicated HT room, I'm using my living room instead. I need yr guys opinion on my setup. Most importantly my svs pb12plus placement. Fyi, all my audio cables will be running below my platform. Question is, is it ok to place d sub on a hollow platform? thanx. ::)

The effort needed to make the raised platform suitable to place the sub is too troublesome & maybe costly too.
SiriuslyCold Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Bro. Just give some constructive advice to help him out instead of asking him to guess mah. ;D give a man a fish... seriously though, any cursory (not even detailed) reading around the web about any speakers will highlight one thing. vibration is bad. even hollow steel speaker stands are better filled up with sand or lead shots now, a hollow platform... will it vibrate and introduce unpredictable resonances? chances are high it is proably irrelevant here but there are some houses with wooden flooring infrastructure (not just pretty layer) and people are advised to put the sub on a granite slab.
xrinfile Posted March 19, 2006 Author Posted March 19, 2006 Thx bros for the feedback. At least i got an idea now on where to place my sub. :)
SiriuslyCold Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 actually to find the best place to put your sub, put it at your listening position, play the LFE test tones and then crawl around and listen for the best sounding place. that is where you should put your sub. of course if it happens to be in the middle of the room, you will have to compromise and find the second best place..
