Enjoy it while it lasts...kekeke

We'll see how you look when you hold your 5-time trophy without being the current holders. Btw that's no way to treat the man who single-handedly won you the cup, the amazing DUDEk! Should get him into the circus, puts Grobelaar to shame!

But the cup will still be in the trophy cabinet no matter what.  ;D

Dudek looks like a nice guy but no man is bigger than the club or for that matter any club.

maybe he hasn't heard that five-time winners get to keep the trophy permanently.

actually wat is the meaning of keeping the trophy permanently ?

Do they get to keep the actual 5th trophy tat was lifted while the first 4 were all replica ?

I was looking at MU's museum and could see at least 1 European Cup on display while at Liverpool website, 4 were seen (they didnt update the link)

I'm also trying to figure out what that means.  After all, Real Madrid have won it 9 times already, did they get to keep an "original" trophy?  And Milan have 6.

Ah, wikipedia to the rescue:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Champions_League

It explains that upon winning 5, or 3-in-a-row, the trophy then in use is kept, and a new one is created.  So Liverpool's trophy is, I guess, the one that was used from 1994 to 2005, since in 1994 Milan reached 5 and presumably kept that one.

The same thing has happened in the Premiership, when ManYoo completed their hat-trick  of 1999-2001, they kept that trophy and a new one was cast.  And in reality, there are two identical trophies anyway.  Similarly, when Arsenal won the FA Cup in 2002 and 2003, it was announced that if they won in 2004 as well, they'd get to keep that trophy and a new one would be cast -- "ironically" the FA Cup currently in use was cast in around 1990 and is the fourth trophy used as "the FA Cup".

Interesting comment,,,,but how do they make the replica ? I believe  it is has to from the same official source and most probably casted too.

I'm sure any competent manufacturer can replicate it.  This is after all custom-built hand-made trophy making, not mass-production, and it would be done by skilled craftsmen, not some semi-skilled labourer.  I suppose it won't literally be identical, but it'll be so close that maybe only up-close professional examination will reveal the differences.  For instance, have you ever noticed any differences between the FA Cup back in the 1970/80s and the current one?  Or the Prem trophy in the 1990s and today?  Didn't think so.

Good one!  ;D

BTW, the EC you still see at OT would be a three-quarters-sized replica, not the actual full-size one.  Whereas at Anfield, it is the actual one, along with I guess at least 4 3/4-sized replicas -- since they get to keep the actual one for their 5th win, do they bother to get a replica for that 5th win?

the new CL trophy casted for this year will definitely be different from the one stored at Anfield. Milan Baros made sure of that when he made a small dink in it while celebrating with the trophy. LOL.  ;D
