Luv4nature Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Anyone knows where this can be bought locally and how much? Is it effective in replacing individual remote controls? Have tried the sony universal remote before and not that impressed. No icon customization and need to toggle a few pages/ button before hitting the control. Hope the logitech is better in design.
SiriuslyCold Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 please call Logitech. maybe if they sense a lot of people asking about Harmony remotes, they'll decide to bring it in
mushroom Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I bought one recently while in US. It works pretty well (can even control my aircon). However, the configuration took quite a while (not the 5 mins that was claimed), and is pretty slow as it's web based. It can be configured by simply entering the model number of your various components, but it doesn't handle the Asian models that well, use the equivalent US model numbers for better results.
Luv4nature Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Thanks. Don't mind to share the price?
mushroom Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 The model I got is the Harmony 360 (coz I like the color - white with green LCD). Retail is USD125.
stephensim Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 hi mushroom, thought of getting that too. Does it work with Starhub Digital Box? If u can share the equipment with us that u r controlling will be great... thks
mushroom Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 It does not come with settings for the Starhub Digital Box, but you can program it in learning mode. I spent a while setting up everything: Starhub digital box (enough buttons on the remote to program them for mosaic mode, favourite channels, info, programme guide, etc) Panasonic LCD TV (settings avail on server) - activate when watching TV Infocus projector (settings avail on server) - activate when watching DVD Marantz AV Receiver (settings avail on server) Denon DVD player (settings avail on server) Daikin Aircon - activate when watching DVD Sharp Air Cleaner (settings avail on server) .... etc One of the best remotes I'll say. I setup 4 activities - Watch TV, Watch DVD, Listen to Radio, Listen to CD. That's it, most of the time it's these 4 buttons. To turn off every device that has been turned on, just hit the power off button.
stephensim Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 thks mushroom for the info... hi guys, i've started a MO for it. Anyone who is interested can add your name in the MO link below. http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=37939.0

Earlier when I tried to set up the DVR as a set top box it did not work. Now it works perfectly with my harmony 659
