jin101 Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Hi all, Need your advise on screen size and seating distance. I will be getting the Epson TW600 projector and my screen is 100" 16:9 Grey screen. Will my seating distance at 3 to 3.5m too close? I have read a few postings in this forum and seems like most of you are using 80" - 90" screen. I have done my calculation at projectorcentral.com and the recommended seating position is 3.1m to 4.9m. Any comment on this? Thanks.
Audio Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Should be OK.... I am doing 100" 4:3 or 92" at 16:9 at about 2-3 metres. As long as you got high resolution, you will be OK. (Audio)

blitz Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 100" at 3 meters? IMHO.... a bit too near leh. At least 3.8 meters will be comfi.
braveheart1624705820 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Hi jin101, Welcome to the Epson TW600 club!! I trust you are enjoying your new "toy". ;D. However, juz to let you know, my epson can't achieve 100" at distance of 3m. My projector to screen is abt 3.2m. I can only achieve 80". Especially when u are watching widescreen dvd, you may have problem getting 100". But I do recommend you to get a upscaling dvd player with HDMI. You will appreciate your TW600 even more. ;). Enjoy!!!

With 100" screen at this distance with the TW600, screen door effect could be very prominent. Beware.
Audio Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Yes, I got used to it already. Screen size is important to me. Gives the cinema effect. I started out with CRT 3 guns so, this distance is OK, since no screen door effects. It is very obvious once I switch to LCD but then because the resolution is so high, you see it and then it goes away once you get involved with the movie. I am thinking of enlarging my screen to 16:9 100" for the Ruby....... (Audio)

Audio Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 By the way, Jin101, what screen did you get? (Audio)
jin101 Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 By the way, Jin101, what screen did you get? (Audio) I have not got my screen yet but I intend to get the grey screen from Remaco but the fixed frame will be done by KEC. Apparently the cost will be reduced as compared to getting the entire thing from Remaco. But I have yet to get the actual quotation from KEC.
