jeuda Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 For some reason, I preferred JVC tvs.. now I am looking to buy a 29 inch JVC CRT TV. Looking at HV-29JH24... looks good to me. Compared to other CRT at Best denki, only the panasonic and this JVC dun flicker at all. Selling at $599 looks good to me. Anyone want to share his or her experiences?

jeuda Posted February 21, 2006 Author Posted February 21, 2006 Does having progressive scan means it is HDTV? I am puzzled.... tried to find out about Panasonic models... but not much info on web. Gosh..
tsammyc Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 No, that model doesn't appear to be HDTV compatible. If it is, you will see 720p or 1080i. All I see is 525p/625p
DIRTRUN Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Hi Jeuda, I am currently running a 2004 34in Jvc crt, a 60 hz one but it does have component in (its called Interiart I think). I mostly watch dvd's with it not much Tv, I find the picture to be pretty good(with dvd's that is). I compared it with Panasonic's once and found it sharper but that's just me. I don't trust Philips(durability issues) and the Sony`s were way over my budget. On audio nothing great(what do you expect) but I have a 6.1 HT so thats a non issue. Regards. Dirtrun
pschia Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I am using the 34" JVC HV-Z34L1. I believe only this model of JVC CRT TVs is HD-Ready. It will support up to 1080i resolution through its component video inputs and I have tested it with HR output from Momitsu dvd player and Shinco EVD player. However, do note that it does not support 720p.

Is it that some DVD is visually better in 720p as compared to 1080i?? I am not sure abt this but I set my dvd player as default to 1080i. Pls advise. ;)
falcon40 Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I heard from my fren who worked in Audio house, JVC is one of the better brand in CRT. I am using a JVC 29" for abt a year. so far still doing fine. no complain. bought from mama shop at 499. JVC LCD seem not bad too. :) Cheers

And it may be a problem for some who want to connect it to their X-Box in high defination. Some games have progressive scan modes of 480p and 720p only. Another reason is that 1080i is still interlaced and some (though very few) sensitive individuals may still detect the flickering.
