Hi guys,

let's have a healthy discussion on the above mentioned topic. There will be no right or wrong but let's just talk about it from a personal point of views.

Cheers

The reason for splurging more $$$ (capital cost only) in the turntable direction was probably because it's very difficult for it sound very good without adequate time and money spent on it?

IMHO time yes, but not necessary the money part. Setting up a good TT takes a bit of time and effort but it's not rocket science for only the rocket scientist :) FWIW I've heard good sounds from well set-up budget TT systems and lousy sounds from badly set-up Megabucks TT systems. As in many things in audio, attention to set-up details is very important .

  • 2 weeks later...

If you are married - most important is your other half does not nag and nag and nag every time you play music.

Of course nag again if you upgrade - meddle with the cables, stands, put coins here and there (like siao fella) -pay more attention to equipment - clean spotlessly compared to the house!

So, without the above nag and nag - IMHO this would be the MOST important thing for hifi set up.

Oh! One more thing - must dig the EARS - better sonic passage.

;D
