I love it when there's nothing...nothing...then BAM! A whole shitload of cool DVD news. Makes me all warm on the inside.

First up, Stephen King's official website is reporting that three more of his movies are comin' up versatile style to destroy your family. Just in time for Halloween we'll be getting the mini-series 'It' (whoopee) and the 1985 anthology 'Cat's Eye' (hell yeah!). Due out sometime in late '02 or early '03 is the new 'Shining' miniseries, which will include a King commentary and interviews with the likes of Mick Garris and Steven Weber.

With that out of the way, check out some official street date announcements for movies soon to be in your collection:

September 17th- 'Panic Room'

October 1st - 'Brotherhood of the Wolf' (pre-order)

October 8th - 'Jason X'

DVD File got word this morning on the features that will be included on 'Brotherhood of the Wolf': deleted scenes, production notes, and trailers. That's about it. May I be the first to cry "BULLSHIT!", knowing full well that there's tons of bonus stuff available considering the two and three disc sets released overseas. Bastards. However, DVD File is also reporting that TVA up in Canada may be preparing a much larger DVD release, so we'll keep you informed.

Is this show nice? Anyone to give a review on it?

The mood of this movie is srt of like "From Hell"....same kinda setting too. But it's about a beast terrorizing a village and how 2 people tried to find this beast and discovered a conspiracy. U can get reviews from IMDB or Amazon.

The cinema version is heavily censored due to extreme violence, drug abuse and nudity. Get the Canadian 3-disc Gift set which contains all extras found in the French version.

In a previous news story we brought you the first specifications of the TVA Canadian Exclusive 3-disc Special Edition of Brotherhood of the Wolf. Since that time a few things have changed for the worse as the Audio Commentaries have now been confirmed to be available in French only without English subtitles. Still, this is looking to be the best release all round for English speakers but so you can make the choice yourself we have summarised the various releases with English language options now available and coming soon...

24 Page Booklet

Disc Two - All features in French with English Subtitles

Interviews With Cast & Crew (15 Mins)

Deleted Scenes (40 Mins)

Storyboards

*Please note the HMV website lists the 2-disc Exclusive as only containing a French DD2.0 Surround Audio track, this seems highly unlikely as the first disc is almost certainly identical to the standard R2 release that contains a DD5.1 French Audio track.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

R3 - IVL - Out Now - $125 HKD average Internet price

4:3 Pan & Scan

DD5.1 and DTS 5.1 French Soundtracks

English, Chinese Traditional & Chinese Simplified Subtitles

The Canadian release effectively mimics the original French 3-disc set but adds an English Dub to the main feature and English subtitles to all extra features bar the Audio Commentaries. The next best release, the HMV 2-disc set, mimics the French 2-disc set and adds and English Dub to the main feature and English subtitles to the feature and all extra features but loses the Audio Commentaries and the DTS Soundtrack.

Other releases we know of include a Korean release due in September that will almost certainly include English Subtitles on the main feature, though the likelihood of their inclusion on any available Extra Features seems unlikely. The only other release guaranteed to include English Subtitles is the R4 but we have absolutely no idea what to expect from that at this point!

If u know french, get the R2 France 4 disc set.

Unfortunately, I do not understand enough of it to get this. Otherwise, I would have tried for the Amelie French R2 with the tin box. ;D

What's the point of getting the French version when there's no subtitles? Get the Canadian Special Edition (3-disc set) which not only contains all the extras found in the French version, but have English subtitles somemore.

I've seen several reports that the PQ of Canadian Disc 1 (movie disc) is not as good as the US version. Anyone who has received the Canadian version care to comments?

spider, the local cinema version is censored so u'll be getting a butchered version out of the local R3 DVD. Moreover, R1 has DTS sound. Dun think R3 has it.
