Rega tonearm Audiomods upgrade

Recommended Posts

I’ve been looking at a possible upgrade to my trusty green Rega RP6 with rb303 tonearm and upgraded counterweight by Michael Lim.
Just wondering if anyone knows if the Audiomods Classis V tonearm would be a worthwhile investment?

I eventually would like to keep this as my second turntable and would like something that would compete favourably with either a Rega P8 or VPI Prime Scout .  Any thoughts and or experience would be appreciated. Till then, keep spinning and enjoy 🙂

Hi Richo

I use an Audiomods classic on my daily spinner and it is a definate step up from the standard arm.

The bearings and body are very well made and there is also dampening rings that are pressed into the stock arm. Bearings are quality ceramic ball items and an extra earthwire is needed.

Not sure if you can get a kit supplied and use your own arm as a donor but that would be the way to go.

I put an Audiomods tonearm on my Platine Verdier when I sold it.

I thought the performance was outstanding, the price/performance ratio is hard to beat.

Thank you McCvinyl. I’m glad to hear you are enjoying it. If I may ask, what tonearm did you upgrade from? Did you get a chance to compare to the higher end Rega arms for performance?

I started off with a Technics 1200 mk 2 with a standard arm and then added a Roksan Nima and then on to the Audiomods Classic kit so I didnt really experience the Rega arm in stock form but from my time with the Audiomods arm it has been able to display the increase in performance of several cart upgrades and would not be a limiting factor if you were to get into some serious high end carts.

Thanks McCvinyl. Just what  I wanted to hear. Sounds like the Audiomods may be the arm for me and a plus that they look stunning. Thanks a million and keep spinning great tunes

Luckily for anyone considering an AUDIOMODS TONEARM, it's a complete no-brainer to make the decision to buy.

I've got the MkV with the VTAF on a Rega P25. The extra height interferes with the stock cover so I made a spider out of wood doweling to hold up a custom acrylic cover.

I've talked with Jeff at length and sent my arm back once to get it upgraded to include his latest improvements and the arm and upgrade pricing is very reasonable - (Australian shipping charges aren't though!)

All his upgrades are from reasoned analysis to improve the sound performance so the arms aren't just eye-candy.

Apparently the German Dr Fieikert has recommended them on his turntables ($5K-$30K).

Jeff is a retired engineer who designs and fabricates his tone arms in his attached home garage workshop. After a couple of years he had paid off all his specialised CNC milling equipment so the 'hobby' doesn't owe him anything. He does it for 'the love of the art-form of creation' (my words). When you open the wooden box they ship in you'll know what I mean. There's no dealer mark-ups or plant and factory costs to inflate the price so don't let their affordability give you hesitation. You won't be able to afford the turntable that matches the Audiomod tonearm, they're just that good. And you can get all his latest upgrades at low prices into the future. With personalised after-purchase service to answer any question and give advice.

It's an easy choice.
