Glad you're enjoying it. Started watching yesterday and will see it through to the end but have to admit that it's a trifle slow for my taste. Also, it took until episode 3 before I saw a part of Barcelona that I recognise. Up until then it could have been anywhere that had sunshine.

thanks JK, surprised we havent seen more of Even Ahmad, she is swedish kurdish...we pretty much binged our way through it over the weekend 🙂 good car chases, fight scenes she has it all :D

sorry i dont know barcelona at all 🙂

watching bay of fires at present .. just a bit comical aussie drama.. nothing too serious :D in a quirky zany way 🙂

across from melb to tassie with a little in canberra.. not sure why its called bay of fires as mostly going on somewhere near strahan in tassie a made up place called mystery bay. perhaps things move north west at some stage  🙂

update on this one... seems to be set across west tassie.. Zeehan specifically ...across to Rosebery, Strahan, queenstown.. nice to se all this scenery use to go to this neck of woods with work visits around those towns... holidayed with family in Strahan... recognise plenty of the buildings etc .... there is a long bow connection to bay of fires.. but its nice to see something with an aussie connection 🙂

the show it self is whacky zany still .. more comedy drama with a bit of crime murder etc thrown in ... so still picks up on the "crime drama" intent of this thread...

just will need some suspension of belief and allow mind to stray on whacky zany side... :D in a "northern exposure" small town style if folks remember that from the 90s :D

"northern exposure"

I used to love that show when it came out. I wonder if it would hold up after thirty or more years?

The olden days, when you had to wait a week between episodes. If you missed one you had to wait a few years for the re-runs.

Undercover from a few years back. Frank Lammers is outstanding as Ferry Louwman.

We didn’t get around to watching Ferry the film but have started Ferry the series. Equal parts crime thriller dark comedy, very addictive as was Undercover!

Undercover (2019)

https://www.netflix.com/au/title/80225312

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undercover_(2019_TV_series)

< Undercover is a 2019 Belgian-Dutch Dutch-language crime drama streaming television series starring Tom Waes, Anna Drijver and Frank Lammers. The plot revolves around a story inspired by real-life events, where undercover agents infiltrate a drug kingpin's operation in Limburg, a Flemish province bordering the Netherlands. The infiltration is executed by two agents, Bob Lemmens (Tom Waes) and Kim de Rooij (Anna Drijver), who are posing as a couple at the campground where the drug kingpin spends his weekends.[1][2][3]

It is a co-production between Netflix and public Belgium TV station Eén, and was ordered direct-to-series. The first season premiered on Eén on February 24, 2019, in Belgium; its second season is scheduled for a September 6, 2020 release on Eén. The series began streaming on Netflix on May 3, 2019. It was renewed for a second season which premiered on November 8, 2020. Season 3 premiered in November 2021, starring Nazmiye Oral. >

Ferry: The film (2021)

https://www.netflix.com/au/title/81248114

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferry_(film)

< Ferry is a 2021 Belgo-Dutch film directed by Cecilia Verheyden, written by Nico Moolenaar and Bart Uytdenhouwen and starring Frank Lammers, Elise Schaap and Huub Stapel.[1] The film serves as a prequel to the Netflix series Undercover. >

Ferry: the series (2023)

https://www.netflix.com/au/title/81579442

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferry_(film)

https://readysteadycut.com/2023/11/03/ferry-bouman-who-is-he-based-on/

< Long-running Netflix crime thriller Undercover is a gripping, gritty, but often darkly comedic series with its origins and inspiration based on real events. Two intrepid undercover agents integrate themselves into a drug lord’s inner sanctum, posing as a couple. The show stars Tom Waes, Anna Drijver, and Frank Lammars, the latter of whom plays Ferry Bouman, the drug lord based on a real-life Dutch crime boss whose empire is infiltrated by the undercover couple, eager to build a case against him.

As is often the case, the villain becomes as engaging as the main protagonists of a show, and Ferry Bouman is no exception. They do say a hero is only as good as his enemy, and Bouman is certainly a worthy adversary.

Who is Ferry Bouman based on?

Ferry Bouman is based on the real-life crime boss Janus van Wessenbeeck, a nefarious and feared drug lord from the Netherlands. The show also takes its inspiration from the story behind his eventual downfall.

In the series, Bouman lives on the Dutch-Belgian border and is portrayed as a drug kingpin, mass-producing ecstasy tablets. >

Just stumbled on Dark Woods on SBS, a really good 6 ep. series based on real events in Germany, starting in the 70's. Well cast and acted, very understated and very absorbing. Unfortunately it is only available for the next month or so.
