I have gone from a large room with ME25 / NAD M51 / OPPO 105 / SGR CX3B / VAF SW19 to a very small room with VAF I93 with NAD 658 / 298 / Vault 2i combo - streaming music for the last 12 months has removed the majority of my bias against the medium.

Early days yet - let the fine tuning begin.

We have 2 cats who have never shown an interest in my audio gear (come to think of it, they have never shown interest in anything except food...).

This all changed with the arrival of the i93s - both of the feline serial morons gave the speakers a little too much attention.

Good wife to the rescue whipping up some snappy velvet covers.

I recall reading on a UK forum that one members pet cat kept spraying one of their speakers.

Eventually, one of them collapsed as the spray rotted the enclosure so much ?

Easily done - just give me a few weeks to clear some work.

Contacted @Grizzly to see about getting some outriggers made for the VAF i93 units - he has a picture of some outriggers he made for a pair of Theil speakers - look very nice.

They look the business.
I went for some simpler Richter branded ones for under my Mission 782.  Not cheap but certainly effective.

Grizzlies outriggers are very good. Was very impressed with build quality and functionality.

Looks like some seriously nice work there.

Anthony is also very easy to deal with - extremely helpful, very responsive to queries etc.

My outriggers for the i93's arrived today courtesy of Grizzlyworks - as did my hernia from lifting them...........Anthony has done an amazing job, take note of the first pic and the weight - 54kg.

Each outrigger weighs in at around 23kg.

Bases are from VAF which should bolt straight onto the speakers once the old bases are removed.

Will send pics of units installed once done.

The title of my thread is "setting up slowly".......

With my trusty Alun keys in hand, the i93 gently reclined the behemoth outriggers from Grizzlyworks and the new i93 bases from VAF, the great install of 21 commenced.

It did not much more than commence as I soon discovered while the bases have the exact same external dimensions (HxWxD), the location of the securing holes has indeed changed..........155253594_i93underside.thumb.jpeg.b7a4c1d7f0bb93f5f6569d9419ae9059.jpeg

"Poop" I said (or words similar but more brutal intone) as I realised there would be no behemoth outriggers installed today.......

"Poop" I said again as I realised I would be standing the i93 up by myself - laying said unit down did almost cause me to have an accident that only me and my dry cleaner would fully be aware of.

"Poop" I said for the final time (as my wife recommended stronger language) as I returned the i93 back to its position, old base still installed, behemoth outriggers returned to the study where wife's big toe and said powder coated steel are bound to meet.

Looks like new bases will get new holes drilled in them as will said behemoth outriggers and it will all begin again.

OK - "poop" just one more time...........

Damn shame mate, that's for sure.  What a bugger!

A mantra I've used frequently of late is 'slow and steady wins the race', but it always sucks when we encounter the unforseen.

Can't wait to check it all out when I venture your way again.

Cheers.

Ant.

First outrigger installed - will wait for for colon and its associated entrails to return to their rightfully installed position before I do any more heavy lifting.

Mission accomplished - the GrizzlyWorks outriggers are installed.

Note to self and others - neither GrizzlyWorks nor VAF appear aware of the impacts of gravity on their products (or the effects of their products on my skeletomuscular and intestinal system - that said, their gear is as solid and well made as it gets - a genuine credit to both of these outstanding Aussie manufacturers.

Next challenge - moving back to Victoria early next year with my system……..oh, and wife as well.

Awesome, they even work upside down. 😂

I tried to get the pics rotated but after a while I realised I have more hope of altering the time space continuum than getting the speakers off my ceiling in that pic…..
